I intended to buy de mysteriis, but I thought that going from Iron Maiden and Metallica straight to Mayhem seemed too harsh... advise me, where can I start with something soft (so to speak :)) to listen to black? Because it's the only metal genre I’ve never listened to, apart from grindcore, but I can't stand that, so it doesn't interest me.

well... I think it would have been an unworkable situation. Syd and Gilmour are opposites from a guitar perspective; the former was an innovator and experimenter of new sounds and above all a crazy improviser (by crazy, I mean he could improvise for hours without leaving a trace of the basic melody), David Gilmour was a more conventional guitarist and less of an experimenter, but undoubtedly less "musical."

Another information: but aren't the Venom n.w.o.b.h.m. with satanic themes? I've never really listened to pure black (I mean like Mayhem), but from the descriptions they don't seem like Venom to me... or at least not 100%.
