it's nothing to do with it, Hal was just the point of view.

I too have loved other noirs, Hal, but I managed to appreciate Black Dahlia as well. From your comment, it seemed like you overlooked the ironic component; instead, yours is a different perspective, one where irony slips into bad taste, the usual clichés, and banality. I could give a few more examples from cinema... Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, bring on the bad taste (even if unfortunately in De Palma, I believe this is almost entirely absent)... you know I'm a fan of John Waters!

The Simpsons are way too yellow, and the only truly successful character is Homer. South Park is better—much more inappropriate and less moral. It’s a cartoon for adults, The Simpsons are for kids accompanied by adults or vice versa.

for me it is rather the disappointment of the year.

Mr. Moustache, are you crazy? Is someone not free to express their opinion?

It's a matter of taste, Hal. Black Dahlia isn't a masterpiece, but it's a very beautiful film (a noir, in my opinion). As a film, it's better than Scorsese's Departed, which I find overrated. Then there's Dressed to Kill; like other De Palma films, it's intentionally ridiculous. This means, in my view, that you're missing a fundamental part of his work: irony!

Koch is really good, I liked him a lot in Black Book by Verhoeven as well.
