Personally, I find it the worst film by Jarmusch, too pretentious; the soundtrack is incredibly annoying, amateurish stuff.

It is important to distinguish between what is TV and what is cinema.

The film still retains its charm intact today.

terribly boring and clichéd film, I completely agree with the review, I believe this director is currently one of the most overrated out there.

Interesting film, but it’s clear that it wasn’t directed by a real director. Unfortunately, Trumbo makes the film too long and overindulges in lengthy, nonsensical dialogues about democracy.

Here Kinsky delivers one of the best performances in the history of cinema, then Herzog's hypnotic, magical, and flowing direction completes the circle of the masterpiece.

I too am on Cillian Murphy's side, because in the end, the film is about him. He is the one with feelings, he is the one with a heart, he is the one with a brain, he is the one who justifies a man, but for an ideal, he can do it....because the film is made that way, it doesn't offer an objective view...but I wonder about the others? Are they just puppets? Do just ideals exist and wrong ideals, and if so, who decides that? Loach? - If you look closely at the reactions of the mother of the boy executed by Murphy and the wife of the latter, they are quite different towards the executioners -....I believe a director should be more objective, and Loach has never been, but it is on this political stance that he has built his reputation, also because, honestly, he couldn't rely on other qualities.

Well, there are many moments of rhetoric in the film, for example, the entire final part. Then I don't agree that Loach doesn't take sides between the two brothers; it seems pretty clear to me that he is on the side of the protagonist, at least in my opinion, even if I have to acknowledge that overall Loach maintains a more objective perspective in this film, at least not blatantly biased as he has done in other films.
Voto:
Great film even if at times too rhetorical, like all Loach's movies, a director who is appreciated more for his political commitment than for his artistic qualities. Nevertheless, the film is worth seeing especially for Cillian Murphy's performance, which is truly phenomenal.

absolute masterpiece.
