The Ting Tings We Started Nothing

Fortunately, there's Grant who every now and then suggests some new things to us. In the UK and also in France, they've had good success, despite having read rather lukewarm reviews everywhere, including this one. And from what little I've heard, it's truly surprising for all the hype.
Fred Frith Speechless
Voto:
I had a friend, older than me, who was crazy about Henry Cow and Frith. With all the goodwill possible, I’ve always found them unbearable. I remember a piece, "Cafè Royal" (I think), where Frith with his guitar imitated the sound of a moka pot. You can imagine the depth of that piece. Or "Oslo," a live track of pure improvisation that took up an entire side of a vinyl record. Definitely only for very few. The review is well done and conveys the idea, except when you claim that the listening experience isn't particularly difficult.
Steve Winwood Arc of a Diver
Voto:
I agree on the quality of this work. Much less on the brilliant solo career. For me, the last listenable album by Winwood is Back In The High Life from 1986, then darkness. Anyway, a singer and artist of great class. I'm glad you mentioned Spanish Dancer among the songs, which I adored back then.

But noooo, legendary Metallaro, I am always and in any case against all forms of physical repression. And then, look, if I had to beat up those who don't meet my tastes, I think I would be left all alone. You can easily listen to that. If you don't like it, just don't tell me ;-)

Beyond all the sterile and useless controversies (which ultimately boil down to whether I like it or not), I lament once again how certain albums pass by us practically unnoticed when this album is currently the 6th bestseller in music on Amazon UK with 39 reviews and at number 31 on Amazon USA with 25 reviews. Some share my opinion, others a bit less, but that matters little. My argument is more about quantity than quality. In Italy, it seems we deserve full stadiums with two old sixtysomethings like Vasco Rossi and Antonello Venditti.

Kisses and hugs trell even though physically I am at the opposite end of Greg. I didn't want to hurt your sensitivity. Sorry.

Perhaps this is the first time I’ve received two comments from the editors under one of my reviews. Given the tone, I would have gladly extended the wait. @Festwca Considering what you review and comment on, I have no trouble believing that these things are negligible to you. Other reviews online, certainly less enthusiastic - but for once, I wanted to be a fan - align more or less with my thoughts. This obviously doesn’t mean that I and/or they are right, nor does it mean that you are. @trellheim All you had to do was repeat that you’re Greg Dulli’s lover, and you could have comfortably avoided copying and pasting those few lines I wrote. It was all implied. Kisses.

Not exactly my cup of tea. Out of the 126 reviews you’ve mentioned, I’ll probably recognize about ten groups, by name. Musically, we inhabit opposite planets. What can you do? Anyway, good job.
Paul Weller 22 Dreams

I sincerely thank everyone who participated. The album is good, but not exceptional. Let's say that 3.5 would be a fairer rating. The sense of excessive fragmentation and "mess" is indeed palpable. Unfortunately, many artists, with the advent of the CD, tend to "unnecessarily" fill the medium, when a greater sparseness would be desirable. Luckily, this trend has been diminishing recently. There was a time when the average length of a CD didn’t fall below 60 minutes. Here, it’s nearly 70 minutes, and with all possible goodwill, it's inevitable to skip some tracks.
Graham Parker The Mona Lisa's Sister
Voto:
After the record-breaking avalanche of comments under "my" Portishead 3, I thought it best to go on a diet with Graham Parker. Anyway, there are few comments, but they are almost monumental. In fact, the Parker of Howlin' Wind and Parkerilla (live) is the one who enjoys the most credibility. My mainstream inclination sometimes drives me to talk about slightly more commercial works, even if, in my humble opinion, they are quite valid. A heartfelt thank you to the few, but good, participants.
