One of my few reviews, perhaps the only one, that continues to "live" over time. Thanks to Fleet Foxes, who we will find in many year-end playlists. @POPOLOITALIANO if you want and feel like doing another review of this album, there are no problems; I’m not jealous at all. There are so many duplicates on useless albums that I would be glad to read a different perspective on the FF. @TRELLHEIM If you don’t like it, you don’t like it; there’s little to be done. You have no idea how many albums are praised here that instead of running in a meadow, I would walk across burning coals protecting my feet with all these little discs. A random name? The overwhelming majority of those who make songs longer than 10 minutes.

In the latest Mucchio, Black Mountain were featured in the "beyond the stars" column, and it’s no coincidence that I felt the urge to revisit it on these pages. I also reread the original review by Gianluca Testani (where it’s clear that he knows the debut album), but honestly, I didn’t have the impression you had. I’ll try to read it again.

@Psycho. I believe this album and the one by Black Mountain will make a significant impact on the end-of-year charts, despite the naysayers. In the meantime, it has also been released in Italy. Better late...

I haven't listened to it since its release, but honestly, I remember not being blown away by it. Twenty years later, and reading your lovely review, Anchorage comes to mind, which is perhaps the only song I recall. Very beautiful. I seem to remember (am I removing the dust, can you see it?) that I only have this album by Shocked, who quickly faded away. The girl on the cover should be her in a real shot during a demonstration.

Given that everyone can express their opinion without it being a problem or a fault, and that every opinion can be shared or criticized, I would like to clarify that when making baseless insinuations, one should also have some sources to back them up. Granted, for the sake of argument, that XL is a pseudo-musical magazine (but it is not), I would like to inform you that I have never read nor bought an issue of that magazine. After 45 reviews, I don’t think I need to go and copy from XL. For your information, I’m including the review that appeared in XL so you can realize I was unaware of its existence. But really, truly!

A TIME TRAVEL THAT REVIVES PROG & HARD
Psychdelia and hard rock as a redemptive spiritual force, or as these Canadian hippies say, ā€œhealing & easy listening.ā€ And their second album is truly ā€œtherapeutic & easy to listen to,ā€ especially for those over 45 and under 25: the former will relive the acid, hard & prog atmospheres of their adolescence, from Jefferson Airplane to Deep Purple; the latter will enter a dimension unknown to current rock bands that will lead them to lose their way in the long journey of Tyrants, admiring the psychofolk landscapes of Stay Free, passing through the astral West Coast of Queens Will Play and the Martian lands of Bowie (Wild Wind). Cosmic!

I know I am a pain in the ass, but I hate superficiality, baseless accusations, and approximation.

The amount of visits and comments still suggests that the album in question is one of those "heavy" ones and that it was worth revisiting. Thank you all.

I enjoy these discussions based on theories where everyone can share their thoughts. As far as I'm concerned, I have CDs dating back to 1983, and to this day, I haven't had any reproduction issues. The only thing is that the first-generation CDs are all silver (meaning they lack protective layers), and the surface where the titles are printed can easily get scratched, leading to reproduction problems. In fact, I have a couple that are scratched and tend to skip. But this depends on the scratches, not on the age of the medium. Today, almost all of them are picture discs with a nice protective layer, and I hope that the limited lifespan of the medium is just a myth.

This CD was reissued a couple of months ago, and it didn't just happen by chance. And it wasn't a coincidence that it was the milestone of the Mucchio di Settembre in the Classic Rock section. In any case, I had never heard of it either. I'll make up for that. Well done, Sfascia.

@SORCIO are you now integrated into the Eastern reality? How are we doing with almond-shaped eyes? @ANTONIODESTE how can you not remember the debate about EL&P, progressive rock, and Ciao2001 and Qui Giovani?!? David Torn is part of that circle of artists I’ve always been hesitant to approach. I haven't listened to him, but I’ll try to give him a chance.
