By now, this review has turned into a tête-à-tête, and it's done here. On infoforbunnies (where Ghemison writes), they have an unreasonable admiration for Glasvegas (not Ghemison). I saw you were there and didn't like their ranking. Axelmoloko (who was even on debaser for a while) even calls it his album of the year. Thank goodness someone thinks like I do.

I just saw your 2008 albums on your profile. Good, good. Put the Fleet Foxes in third place. Considering it doesn’t seem like your style, I’d say that’s quite a success. Of all the others, I’ve only heard Black Mountain and Deerhunter, which I need to revisit, but I wasn’t really convinced by them. Even Scaruffi (but I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing) lists the FF in first place tied with four other albums.

@MAH... Don't worry, I've already cleared my wife with Tiziano Ferro and my father with Raul Casadei a long time ago, so there's no problem. I'm strong enough to handle it.

I don't know if you saw the Rolling Stone rankings. It puts MY MORNING JACKET in fourth place. You immediately came to my mind :-) Sometimes they say tastes...

And what is it that makes an album beautiful in an "objective" way? There is no answer. In any case, we usually tend to endorse year-end playlists for the choices we agree with and to reject them for what we don't like. @SENTENCE on Madonna all seem to go "commercially" in the same direction. As for the critics, I don’t think so at all. @PSYCHO I'm rather disappointed not to have seen Black Mountain almost anywhere. I'm waiting for those from Mucchio.

I don't insist on anything. For example, even the Portishead album is well-received everywhere, but I can't listen to it. And I also include the highly praised Vampire Weekend, which just doesn't sit right with me. It's just out of curiosity and for the record. Of course, music is subjective. My father listens to Beniamino Gigli and Wilma Goich (for instance), and for him, that's the pinnacle of music. Want to try arguing with him? But if everyone is going in the same direction, are they all fools?

End of year, time for summaries and playlists. The Fleet Foxes' album is everywhere. Think what you want, I don't care. Here are the publications featuring this album and its position in the year-end rankings: MOJO number 1 - BILLBOARD #1 - Q #2 - UNCUT #2 - PITCHFORK #2 - LES INROCKUPTIBLES #2 - ROUGH TRADE #2 - MUSICLETTER #3 - PASTE MAGAZINE #7 - METACRITIC #7 - ONDAROCK #7 - ROLLING STONE #11 - NEW MUSICAL EXPRESS #13 - BLOW UP #13.... Truly a heartfelt thank you to all.

@MAH! I couldn't hope for better. After all, for you, even Neil Young, David Bowie, Lou Reed, Velvet Underground, Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, Elvis Costello, Bruce Springsteen are just junk, and I could go on. Meanwhile, the real phenomena are Adimiron, Kamelot, Pigsty, Fear Factory, Fairyland, Lamb Of God, and I could keep going. Nobody's perfect.

@ZIABICE I could say the same thing about the Vampire Weekend album (which, by the way, has been highly praised by critics). I find it simply unlistenable, much like the myriad of groups and bands circulating in the UK. @AZZO The two covers you mentioned are not on the album nor on the EP I referenced in the P.S. (it's likely they didn't think much of them either). By the way, I actually own the Christmas limited edition, and the only cover included is a superb version of "Silent Night." Maybe you heard them on their Myspace?!? I thank everyone who contributed, and I would be happy if someone else stops by to share their thoughts after listening.

@ICNARF... out of 47 reviews, I gave the maximum rating 15 times, which is not even one album in three. Considering that I average one review a month, that means one five-star album every three months. Keep in mind that I tend to talk about albums that I believe deserve attention. The star rating is so limited that sometimes I tend to overrate when in reality it would be 4 and a half. I don’t think I’m being as generous as you say. Bye.
