(But you’re the one who says you don’t want to hear the new Daft Punk because it’s definitely going to be shit before even listening to it?) I confirm.. to write nonsense, you don’t write a review.. if you want to do it anyway, you’ll make a fool of yourself.. I know this might upset you, but it seems like a pretty straightforward way of thinking to me! As for the suggestion to read some of your reviews.. no thanks.. especially if you’re talking about the after hours even less..

Dear Josi, I appreciate your calm tones.. I just want to point out that I said "puttanate" after two hours of civil debate.. and anyway it wasn't directed at the review, but fit into the context of my example.. even though I think there are some "vaccata" in that review.. now truly goodbye!

I don’t give a fuck about where we are (and the rock wave sucks and that guy who doesn’t even sign is really a gentleman). One can’t just spout nonsense in a review just because then the ones below can counter! If there’s going to be dialectic, it should be on sensible matters! So let’s write a nice review of Ziggy Stardust by Bowie saying it's crap so we can spark a nice debate!! But what the hell are you thinking!

It's nice to be able to explain that you don't have such refined tastes when, in truth, you think you do; it seems evident to me... I might be wrong... Given that we are on very different positions and therefore I won’t reply anymore, I just wanted to let you know that I've never read NME, that at most I glance at what’s said on Pitchfork, which I find quite reliable, just as among the Italian monthlies, I only check out Rumore because it’s the only one I consider reliable and it greatly reassures me in my theses, unreservedly placing this album at number one of the year (which I believed even before reading Rumore in December). All these critics who speak badly of Franz Ferdinand, frankly, only you see... you who, by the way, write reviews on a site where the reviews, no offense, really suck! And to think that by taking a look, I saw that your reviews of other albums are the only ones that actually stand out here... Regards.

Dear Moonchild, that the Franz Ferdinand album isn't a two-star album and not even a three-star one, I would understand even on the day when the bull would send me down to Serie C... perhaps on that day, I would give it only 4, but not 2... you can't give 2 to a band that delivers an album like this, one we haven't heard in years!

But do you spend your whole day on this site? Well, unfortunately, writing in these cases is penalizing because you have to reduce it to quite simplistic concepts... (you didn’t see the time when someone called you intellectuals just to respond with the Beach Boys' refrain!! It’s pretty clear...) That said, the point is this: in my opinion, there are few albums worth 5 points (this is the rating scale of this site) in a year... in 2004, I believe the Franz, TV on the Radio, Futureheads, Q and Not U deserve it. In electronic music, I would include Two Lone Swordsmen, !!!, Telefon Tel Aviv... perhaps I’m forgetting a couple of notable albums... That said, these are debatable choices... every now and then, however, an album comes along that objectively has that little something extra, that leaves its mark beyond personal taste, that remains a reference point... Is This It certainly was, even though I admit I think The Strokes are inferior to Franz Ferdinand in pretty much everything! This is an album that will endure, regardless of whether it’s original or not, just as Is This It remains a talking point even after years, always considering the times we live in... It’s clear that we can’t compare it to Velvet Underground, Television, or anyone who made history 30 years ago, but in their own little way, these are important albums. It's always better to think for yourself, obviously... but there must be a reason why for over a year this has been the ONLY negative review of Franz Ferdinand... Interpol have sometimes been butchered and at other times praised (perhaps the truth lies somewhere in between), like The Libertines or whoever you want, but no one has doubted the quality of this ballsy album... perhaps because there's nothing to doubt!

From the comments I see around, it wouldn't seem so.. that said, I didn't want to discredit them too much anyway.. I simply want to say that it's pointless to act intellectual and criticize the Franz Ferdinand album. Objectivity doesn't exist in aesthetic taste, but if you criticize an album like that, I can't help but wonder if you like Muse..

They may be 80s covers, but if you want to feel something experimental or avant-garde, you certainly can't look for it in Franz Ferdinand?!? The fact remains that this year they made a great album. Sure, it’s not original, but when you play rock with guitar, bass, and drums, you inevitably have influences that reference the past. It doesn't seem to me that the Interpol you praise so much don't have clear points of reference that look back 20-25 years.
