I read a book called "Memories of a Cheyenne Warrior," an autobiography of someone who participated in the Battle of Little Bighorn, where not a single soldier from the army survived. This guy recounts that the last remaining white soldiers at the end of the battle, surrounded by the Cheyenne, inexplicably turned their guns on themselves and killed each other, probably "due to the effects of alcohol." The reason behind the act is obvious, but he couldn't even conceive the idea of suicide; it was not a concept contemplated or understood by those people, not even for someone about to be scalped and disemboweled.

Anyone wanting to know more about Skip James should watch the film "The Soul of a Man" by Wim Wenders. It’s not like the other bricks of Wim Wenders.
