I don't think I'm an idiot (what a surprise, no idiot is aware of being one), and the evidence, I believe, that you calling me an idiot is like the ox calling the donkey horned, is this: in comment 97, I say: "Studying serves no other purpose than to meet a certain type of people who can help you get out of an unfavorable situation and make the most of your real abilities." With this (and a humble and intelligent person would have understood), I was referring to talented individuals who have studied in turn and can help you operate at levels that those who haven’t studied unfortunately cannot afford. You, on the other hand, immediately thought (with all the cleverness typical of Italians, as I guessed above) of a kick in the ass, of connections, of the "son of" who can give you a permanent position at the ministry. But I wasn't referring to that.

MOURNING_PALACE, you are right, the street is the best school of life, but one must not get stuck in it. I know several intelligent and talented people who haven’t managed to emancipate themselves from that condition and instead of following their own path, they’ve lost themselves... With drugs, with a life lacking goals. Studying serves no other purpose than to meet a certain type of people who can help you get out of an unfavorable situation and make the most of your real abilities. Studying is only and solely for this; those who read on their own, build up a lot of knowledge, and then get lost in their own thoughts don’t go anywhere, unfortunately.

"But no, come on, what are you going to do...": that's really you, Vortex, just more refined.

A mindset, among other things, perfectly Italian, just like those people you so despise and feel superior to, but in reality, you are just like them.

You Vortex, you seem like someone who prefers to bask in defeat rather than fight for victory. This seems to be your reasoning: "Since the world is evil and full of injustices, and those in power are wicked people, then we are destined to fail and it's not worth fighting." Yours seems to be a defeatist mentality.

Vortex, I don’t think my statement (I essentially believe that philosophical speculation in itself is unworthy of a respectable person) was unfortunate, perhaps a bit cheeky maybe. I find your (or Svevo's) statement "any effort to give us health is futile" to be more unfortunate. Even the one you wrote above (Take it as if you were your weird old uncle) isn’t very cheerful; rather, I would say it reveals someone who has never truly exposed themselves in life, hasn’t stepped out of their own little garden, hasn’t sought "mad and desperate" experiences (mind you, I said "experiences," not "studies"). You seem like someone who believes they have already lost: "It’s all useless...". That’s not true. Salvation lies precisely in the "searching" for salvation, and searching for salvation also means having the courage to expose oneself. As for me, I have the experience, despite my age; I have lived fully and desperately but without ever losing heart, confident that those who seek will ultimately find.

47, what you wrote in message 83 is very interesting. I personally believe that philosophical speculation in itself is not worthy of a person who respects themselves. That's just my opinion. Bye.
