Link Wray may be an experimentalist and whatever else you want to call him, but he doesn't belong in the same category as Cash, or Perkins, or even Cochran. I don't think there are any reasonable doubts about that.

I don't believe that being an outcast is a virtue... Chuck Berry, for example, is not an outcast. He's someone who knows what he's doing, he knows how to entertain people... That's rock and roll; it should be entertainment (high-level perhaps), but always entertainment.
Come on, Carl Perkins went to play in prison with Cash, if Link Wray went to play at San Quentin they would throw chairs at him...

I didn't say that Wray is worthless, I said that Perkins is someone who played at San Quentin with Johnny Cash, he's someone who was the idol of George Harrison, and he is a humble and likable person, while Link Wray seems like a bit of a misfit to me...
