Unfortunately, we have to make do with what we have. The world changes, but it changes through hard work—there's little else to do... It's clear by now that revolutions don't last long, and anyone who ascends to a pedestal will sooner or later have to come down... including Berlusconi.
Work, but insisting on doing your job without giving up or backing down at the first obstacle or the first arrogant person who comes along and tells you to behave yourself.

In terms of common sense and meritocracy. Things whose value has been lost in the name of a self-indulgent and DISHONEST democracy, both in domestic politics and international relations. At the moment, Italian democracy is a criminal organization in full "compliance."

This album is cool, I bought it in London in 2001 and I practically memorized it, along with Parachutes by Coldplay. Quality stuff.

And anyway, there are more idiots in the world than geniuses, that has always been the case and will always be. Even if the idiots have taken over, with democracy. At this point, it’s better to lean towards oligarchy, better few but good (and responsible), than just one jerk (because that’s how it is now), who marches on the folly of the majority and takes advantage of it, disregarding the (albeit few) voices of reason.

Anyway, yes, I agree that Roman fans are ridiculous caricatures... The imitation of the Roman, the joke of a Roman... A truly sad thing. My grandfather was a Roman from '23, he knew countless folk songs by heart, he studied but still spoke with a Roman accent, he didn’t know how to speak any other way. And I add that not even 60 years of pro-American consumerism can suppress a culture that is thousands of years old; Rome has always survived the worst disasters, much worse than American hegemony, from barbarian invasions to the world wars, changed, of course, but still Rome and always with the character of Rome. The Roman traditionally has a proud and disillusioned character that is part of his nature, transmitted from the environment since early childhood. These are things that don't go away so easily, that always remain inside despite appearances and hard times; the Roman is always ready to rise again. These are things that endure over time, unlike certain fleeting trends.

What I mean is, you’re making me lose my patience. This isn’t a constructive attitude; shoveling more bullshit onto the existing bullshit leads nowhere. I try to bring out that little bit (if it can even be called little) of good that football still gives to people, and it’s clear that not everyone can be champions—there are champions and there are idiots, and everyone focuses on the category they prefer...

The fact is that over the last 50-60 years, the ethical disintegration brought about by hedonism, consumerism, and the like has completely overturned the standards of human behavior. The only environment that remains healthy (if one can say so) is the sports one. All others (work, politics, military, art...) are in an even worse state. No one wants to make an effort, to suffer, to be patient... Football, of course, is the most messed up sport of all, but it still undeniably relies on real values. And anyway, Di Canio is an isolated case because we’re not talking about Nesta, Di Vaio, to name a couple of active champions who grew up in a youth sector that is struggling today but has always produced top-quality players. Today, society is falling apart, but we can start again from what sports propose, and there are already clubs that could have the means to do so; what’s missing is the will. Fifty years of consumerism cannot erase what a society accomplished in its first fifty.

Anyway, I want to clarify, fans aside, that Lazio is not a sports club like the others; it is one of the oldest and most complete multi-sport organizations in Italy, perhaps the most complete, and it was awarded the royal title of Ente Morale in '21 before fascism... Therefore, as a club, it carries very important sports values, and regardless of what the various fan bases say, Lotito has done an excellent job so far, especially with young players.

Stoney, soccer players are generally normal people; it’s the people around them who aren’t normal. I like soccer, but I don't like the environment surrounding it. I also played soccer as a kid in the regional youth league, and the atmosphere on the team was just awful, with competition among the boys, parents going crazy during matches; once, a kid's father jumped over the fence to go beat up the referee who had made us lose due to a forfeit (6 players sent off), maybe due to some trouble with the club, I don't know. The fact is they had to take the referee away, or else they would have attacked him.
