@Caz: Trapattoni is intelligent in the way he has dealt with Bayern Munich players, for example. You have to understand that I don't know Trapattoni; I judge him by what he has done in his work as a coach. From what a person does in their job, you can gauge their value. Do you remember that famous press conference where Trapattoni insulted "Strunz"? Everyone was mocking him for his language, but I watched the subtitled version, and he clearly says he is fed up with being a father to the players and taking all their responsibilities in front of the press and the fans. This means two things: first, he has TAKEN on his own responsibilities and defended the weaknesses of others; second, he made sure that the players confronted and solved their weaknesses, essentially giving them a wake-up call. Indeed, that year Bayern went on to win the championship. Thanks to Trapattoni. This is what intelligent people do: they understand, synthesize, and solve. And we all know it's impossible to talk about Trapattoni without mentioning football because we all know him for what he has done in football. I can't say how good Trapattoni is at playing briscola, and I can't say whether he is a saint or not, but the fact remains that he is one of the best coaches in the world, recognized by everyone as a person of undisputed human value, and the fact that you call him stupid says a lot about your sense of reality.

"Trapattoni is not intelligent"... Trapattoni may not have studied, he doesn't express himself the way you can, but it seems to me that you are making rather approximate judgments about people. You are neither very participative nor objective. Ignorance (scholastic, not life-related) and imbecility are not the same thing, just as culture (bookish) and intelligence are not necessarily aligned. If you want to discuss a person's behaviors and choices, that can be done, but to label one of the greatest players of all time as a clueless imbecile simply because he hasn't studied or struggles to express himself in Italian seems to me to be a rather superficial argument, to say the least...

How can you say "Trapattoni isn't intelligent"? The Trap is a great guy, oh, he was the only one who had the guts to call up Cassano to the national team (at the European 2004) and he even made him play well. He coached (and won with) teams abroad despite not knowing the language, yet managed to make himself understood very well... How can you say someone like that isn't intelligent? You know you're a bit out of it, Caz.

Well, Ozzy is a retired rocker and a laid-back family man, while Maradona is still active in the football scene as the national coach... Maradona is neither an idiot nor lost his marbles. Maradona can be irresponsible, but those are ethical judgments I don't feel like discussing because I’m not his wife's lawyer and we’re not talking about a politician but about a sportsman and entertainer. There you go.

Stunned Kusturica, yes, and quite badly at that. But I don’t feel like calling Maradona a fool, someone who knew how to entertain and bring joy to millions of people... A whole city will remember him for a very, very long time. What he did with his personal life is none of my business. The comparison with Ozzy Osbourne seems to me like one of those big nonsense you read every day on this site.

Surely Cobain was someone who didn't know how to be happy, but that doesn't diminish the value of the concert, which is high.

Well, the problem is working and staying compliant, given the somewhat suffocating rules. :-)

Macaco, in what way does it all seem like a big blackmail to you, if I may ask. I don't want to seem intrusive, but if you wrote it on a public site there should be a reason. :-)

Stoney, I don't understand how a person like you can end up on a list titled "fucked up human cases," the administrators of this site deserve to be slapped every other day.

Stoney, what you say is true. But it depends on what you mean by "work". What you say is absolutely true, I fully understand it, but for me, working simply means "acting for good". If you act for good (which can mean either working your butt off in the office if there's a good reason, or fleeing Italy and taking the whole family abroad, for example), the results will come. It’s essential to accept the possibility of risk. There's always risk, even if you calculate every little detail. Don’t be afraid to take risks, if it’s worth it, and life will begin to make sense...
