But are you sure that the drummer is still Steve Shelley? Listen to how a review of EVOL starts: Third work, new things on the horizon: Sonic Youth begins to approach the expressive model that will make them famous. Alongside the usual dissonant outbursts and endless feedback, there come the guitar pursuits, the continuous supporting work of the bass, the seductive regularity of the drums (still played by Steve Shelley: he won't leave his place anymore). ---> notice the last sentence in parentheses: if it says it's still played by Steve Shelley, it means he was already on the previous album.
