I once had a similar experience with Mastodon, but honestly nothing at that moment would have kept me from sleeping. The only album that truly prevented me from sleeping was the self-titled one by This Heat... long live the CD player in such cases, even if lately I just keep the speakers on all night in my room.

oh, finally someone who doesn't write about rock. nice soundtrack, beautiful sounds, and great atmosphere. I'm in a hurry, I'll read the review plus tard.

Beautiful for you and also for poor Tony! Have you heard the Trio Of Doom with Williams, McLaughlin, and Pastorius? Anyway, I'm looking for that album, you've intrigued me a lot.

Well GB, I said it too that this story is THE definitive story of Batman. And I also agree with your take on the lucidity/madness debate: Gordon's quote isn't a slip into paranoid obsession; rather, it's the common man's need when faced with two freaks like Bats and Joker to have some references. In Gordon's case, the law is the lifeline, the hope of still being able to have control over reality. But I would also emphasize that Bats completely agrees with Gordon on this: Bats, if this particular story hadn't ended in such a grotesque way at times, could certainly beat the hell out of Joker but would never kill him. In his own way, Bats is very strict about the rules; he believes he just needs to help enforce them. Moreover, the quote from Miller above seems to need some clarification: that Batman from that Miller is the one from DKR, but there it’s a future in which the rules can’t be applied at all, and Bruce Wayne is forced to take up the mantle of the bat driven by a different need. In contrast, the Batman from Year One, also by Miller, is always very aware of the limit that should not be crossed: in fact, it's a younger (and especially very disappointed and angry at that moment) Gordon who asks him to kill, I don't remember who, and it's Batman who brings him back to reason.

I find this comic as fascinating as it repels me when I try to read it. I just can't stand all those captions. I hope that one day I'll manage to read it...

Michel Gondry Be kind rewind

I can't stand Jack Black. But damn, this film is by Gondry and there's also the good Mos (maybe I only remember him from Italian Job when he had an extraordinary part in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and he made exceptional records), so I really have to look for it.

Well, Psycho, I knew very well that those two movies made you crap... I did it on purpose, heh heh.
