The Strokes Is This It

what a useless and uninteresting review.

three full stars but not more. I would say that more than for the story, this film is memorable for certain truly valid directorial choices that swim in an imagery between German expressionist cinema and American comic books.

I understand your argument. However, I wasn't referring to the drawing but to the validity of the stories and characters. "Unmatched until the end of the '70s" seems a bit excessive to me. While the X-Men owe certain dynamics to the F4, their stories are better, as are those of the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Therefore, one point is to acknowledge the historical importance of the Fantastic Four, another is to consider the quality of the adventures and characters (and aside from The Thing, the other three are quite banal and flat, which is rather astonishing).

If you want to know what The Man-Thing is, search on MyMovies; it's based on a fairly unknown comic in Italy. The character, however, is very strange and I only found him in a Hulk story. The film was voted the worst movie adapted from a comic.

It happens to everyone to make mistakes. I trust your advice and I'll stay away. I've seen a few scenes of DareDevil here and there, but I'm not really interested in delving deeper (same goes for Ghost Rider, Catwoman, Elektra, The Man-Thing... all crap). If you haven’t seen it, Superman Returns is really enjoyable. By the way, the second one of these F4 is coming out now. The interesting thing is the presence of Silver Surfer, but it will surely get ruined.

Well, with the Doomsday saga, Superman has been refreshingly revitalized. As for Cap, the discussion is as mentioned above. I agree with you about the movies, but I think you're speaking without a solid foundation. I haven't seen the Hulk film, but the director isn't just some hack like this Tim Story. It's Ang Lee. He may not have nailed the film, but usually, he knows how to do his job.

Fantasy is used as a metaphor: the little girl takes refuge in the world of fairy tales to escape the atrocities of Francoism. The monsters she encounters and faces are far better than the monster that taints reality (the stepfather), and in the end, she chooses what she deems best, sacrificing herself while simultaneously feeling exalted. You didn't understand anything about this film. It's full of genuine and touching emotions, the story is not trivial, and there is truly a great deal of humanity in it.

The same argument applies more or less to the heroes mentioned by Bartle: Cap, Thor, and Tony Stark were rather one-dimensional characters. They are only now being modernized and deepened (again through Civil War, which among other things proposes an unprecedented and fascinating rebellious Captain America against the government, almost a paradox, I would say).

I'm speaking as an extremely passionate Marvel reader. Honestly, among Stan Lee's creations, I find the F4 the most static and least entertaining. I mean, they were born over forty years ago and are only now showing more varied facets with the Civil War event. Moreover, they have never had stories like those of the X-Men (I'm thinking of the ones created by Claremont or Morrison) or Spidey (like The Night Gwen Stacy Died or McFarlane's Venom...) and they lack the thunderous and tormented charm of Hulk, not to mention the depth of Daredevil (especially the late '70s cycles created by Miller). Perhaps, CPT, you're right about their influence, but in terms of quality, they have been surpassed by practically all the other heroes/super-teams of the House of Ideas.

I was indeed wondering the same thing about the Spider... however, I am very fascinated and I think I will look for them...
