The SugarHill Gang track isn't a hip-hop piece simply because it's not sampled but played in the studio by a real band. And among other things, it's a mess; the original by Chic is much better. As for the rest, I've always despised these compilations. @il_losco: yes, Sandinista is definitely a double album. @Iside: if you only listen to that terrible track suitable only for compilations, you disappoint me; you should take a look at hip-hop reviews and you'd find many things that might interest you.

It would be quite difficult to review an album using only the category of music and no other label, wouldn't it?

no no, I agree with you. It's just that these are conversations that musicians in general often have, and then we sit here chatting about what bands do or what importance to give to labels when we can't help but use them in almost every conversation we have. It's really spitting in the plate we eat from, very punk but not very useful and quite tiring.

In my opinion, "ebh" is a typo for "ebm" (electronic body music, the tacky and more dance-oriented and dark version of industrial). Then we need to differentiate between genre and movement: indie (and in hindsight, I would say grunge and new wave were too) is a movement, while emo is a genre just like hardcore was/is. Then all these sectarian and somewhat resentful discussions (Alessio says it sounds cool to say "I sound indie" or "I sound post-rock", but in my opinion it sounds much cooler to say "oh, I can't stand labels, I just play music") go to hell when you step outside the rock world; in electronics, everything is much simpler and artists (in most cases) don’t worry too much and may even be clearer in defining their music, nor do they get offended if it gets labeled in some way (as has recently happened with dubstep, although there remains the great exception of trip-hop).

it is said "elitist". aside from that, a fluctuating review for an album that I don’t care about with all my heart.

a convoluted and very poetic Sfascia, completely different from the last time. This ContorciLamiere always throws me off. I don’t know the three guys, but after reading I really hope to see them one day or another... {;-D}
