he took too many psychedelics, he was prone to schizophrenia, the whole thing hurt him, he was no longer able to perform live, meanwhile his genius had led the band to success, the success pleased the band and they didn’t want everything to go to hell because their genius lost his mind, so they left him at home, David completely replaced him, they wrote songs that somewhat imitated Syd's style, then they wrote lyrics that often talked about Syd. Not exactly a nice story.
