It was clear that the concert grosso was a joke; in fact, only one comment connected it to you, mr_iko... concert grosso could be in play if we were to make a ranking of the best Italian prog... but there's better... anyway, you are really charming!!!

...and for those who don't know...the first album by ALAN SORRENTI is considered a milestone of Italian prog. And I must say it has a chillingly beautiful cover...then, alas, Sorrenti went downhill.

It's worth noting that at the time, even the Anglo-Saxons looked at us with "admiration"... a certain Peter Hammill (Van der Graaf Generator) translated and had Felona e Sorona by Le Orme published in England. The album made it to the charts.

I would like to say something to those who love Emerson, Lake & Palmer. Try the self-titled album by QUATERMASS.

In my modest opinion, saying that Italy is peripheral in the prog scene is somewhat inaccurate. Italy has been one of the nerve centers of prog. The very fact that, alongside the Canterbury scene and various prog styles, there is also a genre called Italian progressive proves this. We were among the greatest of all time, let’s not kid ourselves. So great that it was necessary to define Italian prog as a genre of progressive rock that was heavily characterized by our "Mediterranean," if you will, taste for melody.
This is evidenced by the fact that Italian prog bands from the seventies still have a following of admirers all over the world today. It is not at all difficult to read enthusiastic reviews of Italian groups from that time on foreign websites, whether Western or Eastern. Albums like "Io sono nato libero" by Banco del Mutuo Soccorso are absolutely comparable to any international production of the time.
I think, however, that "Third" by Soft Machine had a much greater impact in terms of innovation than "In the Court of..." and for this reason, I consider it a cornerstone.

I think there's more shit in the shit of mogwai... banal and boring. Psychedelia is elsewhere.

definitely the greatest Venetian band of all time. Tagliapietra with his hieratic voice, De Rossi is a tank on the skins, and Tony Pagliuca is one of the greatest keyboardists of all time, here in Italy. Great CD, personally their masterpiece is "Felona e Sorona," a concept album worthy of the great international names. Then over time they fell into oblivion, maybe because they were out of fashion or because they started down a too-pop path. Anyway, they are still a significant live act.
