mmmm. So... this album disappointed me. I bought it original (by the way, the packaging is quite inconvenient to insert, but if you turn it on its side, it becomes just like other CDs and it's also original from a "cut" perspective... I figured that out after 3 days of intense reflection ;P). So we were talking about the album... much more accessible and for this reason, at least for me, less beautiful than the previous ones. I, who started with () then bought Agaetis, was expecting something even more "profound" musically, with Martian innovations and complicated narratives that might be tackled bit by bit but would ultimately deliver the same richness as in the previous installments. At most, the album for me is...

I absolutely love it! I'd say it has a bit of a curtain feel to it.

So... here's my take. I absolutely adore Devendra; I've been following him since the days of Black Babies, I've been to his concerts, I've talked to him—I'm a true fan. However, objectively, this is the worst album of all his production. To be clear, the record is nice (at times it reminds me of Manu Chao in some passages), but nothing more. That dark, minimalist vein, so lo-fi and haunting, has disappeared, and in its place are catchy choruses, widespread cheerfulness, and pleasant little songs, but nothing beyond that. The masterpieces remain "Nino Rojo" and "Rejoicing." The review is perfect; the introduction is simply excellent, but I don't quite agree with the rating.

I've heard them mentioned, but around here you really need the indie scientist's almanac to keep up with all the new rock releases. I’ll probably end up dancing to liscio soon... Well done.
