I believe I can tell from the slight and fine accent that the university where you earned your degree in Classical Literature is Harvard. Is that correct?

As usual, the review is excellently written (the ending is perfect): concise and it makes you want to buy it. Unfortunately, I didn't like the album at all, and by the way, I traded it with Francesco_P just this summer (he sent me the debut of the Doves!). I prefer the Reids!! (But if you also want to swap some cool records that you don't like anymore and that I might like, and vice versa, just reach out!!!)
Cheers.

in your ass to the whale, my virtual friend, for your graduation. Cece, I don't think the word "sold out" is excessive... it's not a blasphemy... in my opinion, it's the truth for this group currently: it starts with making your music more accessible, a little commercialization of your image, the transition to a big label, and voilà, you end up on the MTV hit list in Italy, right at the top, with kids downloading the ringtone of what a few years ago was only at the top of your (and some other weird people's) favorite groups. It's worth appreciating bands that do the exact opposite of what I just mentioned. That's why a band like the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club has made a strong comeback in my stereo lately with a respectable album.

thank you greg ;D
p.s. Miko I'm really happy you found the time to listen to the album and come back to the review to share your thoughts and discuss it (also because it seems you agree with me based on the rating...)! Well done. This is the spirit of this site!

GABRI: Yes, indeed, ethically speaking, I agree with you. Let's say he tried the first time with Bernard Butler and it went exceptionally well (debut libertini) the second time it went even better because the press pushed the album to make it the second best album of the year in Great Britain, second only to the one by FF (even though the album was awful...) and now, since the iron must be struck while it's hot, he continues down this path. He’s not teaching the younger guys anything. Everyone likes money, and surely he likes it more than anyone. Most likely, when he felt it was right to release an album with incredible hype, he did so by leveraging a Doherty who might currently be "better off staying home in front of the fireplace."
MIKO: I don’t share your opinion that the blame lies with the people, nor do I agree with Kosmo who says "he's toxic and wants to stay toxic." In my view, if he had the choice, he would opt for a nice clean-up; it's just that he isn't capable because he's currently considered the number one rock star in the UK, he’s loaded, the stars are drooling over him, etc., so he doesn’t find much strength to make serious efforts. After all, if you have millions to spend and you like cocaine, it's simple math; why compromise? However, it’s also true that Pete Doherty (and we) have always known that people are cruel and always ready to pounce on you at your worst moment. Let’s not even talk about English journalists!

Jónsi has no heart problems. He has a glass eye and is gay. All that's missing is that he's a communist, and then you know what a nice prank I would come up with for Berlusconi...
Well, anyway, the review is very well written and top-notch in its synthesis. Unfortunately, my opinion of Sigur after this album is not the best: they seem a bit sold out to some nice melodies. And the experimentalism of ( ) and the intricate beauty of Agaetis? I don't know... here it seems more melodic pop to me... anything but electronic and strange stuff, as someone keeps saying. One of the disappointments of the year.

Ah, for the anonymous... you know what the fact is, dear friend? After more than 200 written reviews, at times, one gets a bit fed up with taking everything seriously, comparing song by song, and meticulously and seriously describing things. Let alone talking seriously about a nobody group like this! Anyway, I respect your opinion. ciaxxx

Kosmo, the fact is that Mick Jones should (in my opinion) focus on a new type of music. I don’t know, maybe shift towards folk for a couple of albums, experiment with new things. As long as he keeps producing rock albums, they will all sound like this: artificially imprecise but charming in the solos and melodies—essentially pop punk. Which might work for one out of four albums (see Libertines’ debut), but then inevitably the quality drops significantly and it becomes a fainter photocopy; and if around you there’s a movement of people (Razorlight, Bloc Party, Kings Of Leon, Futureheads, etc. etc. etc.) who outshine you by playing your same music, and doing it even better, well then… take a break for a few months and come back when you’re sure you can continue being the master and not the student. I say this because last year he and Bernard Butler had anticipated the self-titled album of the Libertines as a "once in a lifetime album!" MAH!
