PUPPETS 27 you’re right, I also love Metallica’s four instrumentals, both in terms of technical composition and especially on an emotional level; it's something quite indescribable. But here we’re talking about music, we have people who play or at least listen, I’m sure you all know what that means. If I had to rank Anesthesia, I would place it lower because it’s a bass solo and it stands apart from the others as it’s somewhat immature and definitely less “symphonic” than the other three. I am absolutely incapable of making a ranking, in every aspect, and the beauty is that they are incredibly different. My vote for the instrumentals:

Second thing, Metallica are not fascists, and especially it is NOT TRUE THAT METALHEADS ARE FASCISTS. I don't only hang out with metalheads, but in metal circles there is less political prejudice than in any other group: there are die-hard communists, lost fascists, people who don't give a damn, who accept each other to such an extent that they joke without fear of offending each other's political ideas, are we kidding?

So, let’s clarify a couple of things here: Cliff Burton was an excellent Thrash Metal bassist (Thrash Metal, and I repeat, Thrash Metal) with, in my opinion, a very interesting musical sensitivity. You can't even compare him to Pastorius (I take him because he's somewhat of an icon), who at 23 years old, probably both Cliff back then and DiGiorgio now could only kneel down and suck it up. Regarding Master, it's true that the bass is completely lost in the mixing; the bass is played strictly with the fingers. Moreover, the Rickenbacker has some interesting very high tones that really highlight the attack of the fingers (never tried it, but I've heard it). As for the bass lines, I like them; Battery is something devastating. Besides the "gallop" of the verse, where the guitars hit everything on E, the bass accentuates every beat with the high octave and then two low E's on the sixteenth and the eighth after, and that definitely makes you sweat a lot. Then in the pre-chorus, when the guitars go for a double stop per beat, the bass works with the root and its octave in a nearly funky way—beautiful. Then in the chorus of Master, it’s always there contributing, and it’s also fun to play around with the clean part of Sanitarium and invent some little transitions in the famous 6/8 riff of Orion. As for Damage, I don’t know what to tell you; going fast with two fingers fixed has always excited me a lot... point 1 exhausted.

Uela better than the other, with only ONE jarring repetition and overall much smoother and more interesting, you have to share this album with me, but for me, there is only one Dave Holland and he is not a drummer :). It wouldn't be perfect but I'll raise the score because you are improving.

And since following the bassist's advice leads to a career. Just one suggestion, the purchase of a thesaurus, if you really can’t come up with them on your own, anyway, great feedback :)
