Let's not kid ourselves... Metallica invented thrash metal, practically the foundation of modern metal. Their best characteristic was never the technique, as we know, but they composed albums such as Kill 'em All, Ride The Lightning, Master Of Puppets,...And Justice For All, which remain absolute cornerstones of metal. Back then (we're talking about twenty years ago or so), this was innovation; they were the first to open the doors to a new type of sound in a genre that was already living off bands like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, etc. They added the power, the speed, the rage that was missing and placed themselves a step above everyone else. Today they have nothing more to say, but they will always remain the band that changed the history of metal.

It wasn't meant to offend you, but it seems like you categorize music based on two intersecting characteristics: if it has them, it's good; if it doesn't, it's not music. Music is more than that; it's varied, elaborate, and a very personal thing. In my opinion, there shouldn't even be grading scales... x Puglia: I didn't know this story about quake, how cool!

I still like it quite a bit today, and so does my significant other. It's nice, not at the same level, but pleasant... LET'S NOT COMPARE IT TO FOLLOW THE LEADER!!!!!!!! And then I get told why I swear...
