The scripts, but also some texts, feel rather forced to me. I think of Ghost Writer, for example: too many things fall into place at just the right moment, and the resolution of the problem seems straight out of a puzzle magazine.

I'm not a big fan of this kind of literature, but right off the bat, two beautiful stories come to mind that deal with the afterlife (or at least imply it): one by Poe, "The Facts in the Case of Mr. Valdemar," and one by Villiers de L'Isle-Adam, "Vera." Of course, the style and treatment are very different compared to Dick, but you might enjoy them...
