Writing can be dated regardless of the year... I mean, "Tropic of Cancer" is from the 1930s, "In Search of Lost Time," and Joyce's "Ulysses" are even from the 1920s, and I challenge anyone to label them as outdated writing. I've never read anything by Asimov; someone told me to read "The Foundation Trilogy," but I never did...

In my opinion, though, there are many fewer fundamentalists here than you think. It seems to me that there are a lot of people who explore multiple genres, of course each with their own preferences or prejudices (among mine is rap)..
