Africa is all to be discovered... lately I've been listening to TAMIKREST, an extraordinary group from Mali whose existence would be an unforgivable sin to ignore. Just like the previous Toumastin, Chatma catapults traditional Tuareg music into interstellar territories, thanks to the overwhelming skill with which they manage to weave it into sounds more familiar to Western traditions like funk, rock, blues, as well as certain psychedelia reminiscent of both Pink Floyd and Quicksilver. There’s so much to listen to and, above all, we have too little time.
