I will go against the tide as always. I find it nonsensical and ridiculous to retire numbers from jerseys. Great players (not only great with the ball at their feet, but also great as sportsmen) do not need to be honored with this gesture, nor to be idolized as demigods. They remain former employees and sportsmen. This story of retired jerseys is a typical massifying and absurd trend of various clubs, inaugurated after Baresi's farewell to Milan in '97. Dozens followed in quick succession. As a passionate Inter fan, I will continue to love those figures who brought my Inter into history, Facchetti and Zanna (as I will remember other champions who did not suffer the usucapion of the number), my regret is that no one will ever wear the numbers 3 and 4 again. To me, it is a sad affair. Trendy and sad.

Jeff's latest superb album (after the early masterpieces, of course), set within a discography of less fortunate works from the '80s and '90s. 4.5 :D

Delightful little comedy made in Italy. Smiles and reflections in an Italy that was slowly changing and trying to open its mind beyond Catholic dogmas and provincial bigotry. Pozzetto in his "state of grace" period and a Muti in the bloom of beauty. Well done.

Those works of undeniable technical and historical value. Simply monumental.

The trailer intrigued me. I wouldn't have minded following the narrative series about one of the most gloomy years (tangentopoli and mafia massacres) I have lived through. To be honest, you made me lose my desire. What I don't understand is: how much of the social aspect does this series manage to convey? And to that question, I promise myself to reignite that desire and watch it soon to truly understand what's hidden under the rug.

Berti is reprehensible. The only song I love was written for her by Lauzi in '81, "La barca non va più," and the good soul of Luigi Tenco was assassinated by the CIA. You, however, remain an idol :)

If I had to choose one above all, "Com'è profondo il mare" is something tremendously complete, a siren song, and those episodes, united by an almost concept of solitude, fully elevate it. The "homonymous" ones ('78 and '80) are more captivating but still brush against perfection. From the Roversi period, my pick is "Automobili," without taking anything away from the flair and ease with social themes of those other two masterpieces that came before. Nevertheless, I repeat, Lucio up to "1983" (another album I've reevaluated a lot recently) has been of exceptionally high levels or almost.

An interesting facet of an epoch-making LP. It's clear that such professionally genius and meticulous artists, as they were, besides the quality (which this album surely doesn’t lack) had to ambitiously aim for success, otherwise they would have stopped performing and gone to cultivate barley for beers. Anyway, well done.

Thank you for the heads-up. Songwriting is lifeblood for my eardrums.

I had the Alfa 75. I picked one up in 1998 for 7,500,000 lire, but while parked in the countryside with my first half-hookup and half-girlfriend, I played the dodgy tapes of Aborti Mancati, not Jacopone Scialpi from Todi :D
