Very objective review. My 3 would actually like to be a 3.5, but I round down because giving it 4 balls would mean giving it too enthusiastic a rating. However, I happily give this score because it is an album that, despite its length, is less heavy and more fluid than the previous ones (especially TFF, which I can't listen to from start to finish anymore). The best tracks in the lot are the opening and closing ones (coincidentally the two written solely by Bruce), and the gamble of "The Red And The Black." Of course, there are moments of stagnation, self-referentiality, and déjà vu, but they are six 60-year-olds with nearly 40 years of career behind them, so the album is definitely the most dignified since the times of BNW.

One last note: Dickinson should stop trying to hit the high notes and stick to a mid-range register; age is catching up and the cancer (fortunately removed) certainly hasn't benefited his vocal cords.

Congratulations to you for rescuing a monstrous and epoch-making record with this (nice) brick (beautifully the other way around, since half of it is intentionally unbearable). "Cometa rossa" is my favorite piece by Area.
