Without a doubt, one of the most interesting and brilliant extreme bands of recent years! This album has always represented for me the collection of ingredients and influences that make up their sound at its core, in a primordial way. An inventory of components, followed by an immediate testing to assess their potential... just look at songs like "Dregs of Pluto," "Black Iron," "The Bed is Burning," or that final piece that is "Affirmation of Nothing."
A set of elements from which they have been able to evolve very intelligently, even collaborating with other artists like Merzbow and The Body, and creating music that is challenging and hard to digest, but fascinating to listen to if one seeks, above all, sonic impact and aggressiveness in extreme metal and genres like drone, noise, and industrial. I can't wait for the new "Coagulated Bliss" to be released next month. Diabetics should prepare for a wild ride!

Their first true masterpiece, which in my opinion defined their sound even though they would eventually surpass / consolidate it with "Opus Nocturne," "Heaven Shall Burn..." and the very good, albeit slightly inferior, "Nightwing." At the risk of being lynched, I also add "Panzer Division Marduk" and "Rom 5:12" to this collection of my favorite albums of theirs because, while they are not as refined and inspired as all the aforementioned albums, I really enjoy that ignorant and brutal black metal haha.

I've got them on my list! A band that has never fully convinced me, despite their interesting sound which always deserves a chance; you never know, they might just hit it big with the album of a lifetime (the potential is there...). Matt Tong on drums is no longer the one from Bloc Party, but I do appreciate what he did on "There Is No Year." Then I'll come back to vote for them haha.

It had been a while since I last wrote a review here and I had to somehow celebrate the 5000 days of the deb, so here’s this long post haha

I know very well that metal, especially extreme metal, isn’t as present on casapagina as it used to be, just like when I signed up... or even more so a few years before that, when I was reading, as a guest, the reviews by @[Tepes] and many others, ahhh the nostalgia! But I know for sure that there is still a group of loyal metal lovers - aka enthusiasts of #UH! - who will probably appreciate it. All the best!

One of their most disturbing and "acid" albums from that early phase of the band. In these last few months, I've been focusing on their mid-90s/early 2000s period, and it almost feels like listening to two different bands when comparing this to the albums you mentioned ("Nature Unveiled" my favorite) with what came afterward! However, in albums like "Sleep Has His House," which I revisited this week, something of that sinister and highly experimental period still remains, albeit in a completely different guise and with much greater compositional maturity.

I’m arriving here from Rateyourmusic, after 3 years, because I missed this review haha I loved and kept listening to this album in 2020, and it's always a pleasure to hear it again.

The tracklist blends trance, progressive electronics, and the early IDM of Autechre almost perfectly, the less mechanical and more "earwormy" ones (up to "Amber," if you know what I mean). I've read several critiques online, from those who complain about the redundancy of this style to those who can't stand the absence of beats... I, on the contrary, find it a very pleasant and hypnotic sound in the best sense of the term. I could listen to "Canone Infinito" alone for hours!

Really a great year for the genre. Heavyweights returning with amazing albums, several good newcomers (Tomb Mold, among all)... as I already told you, now it's up to Suffocation to respond with another devastating record!

I really love them, I've been following them for a few years, and they are among the few that work as a palliative to cure this ailment that has afflicted me since 2017, known as "post-Dillinger Escape Plan melting syndrome." I'm not as "mathematical" as they are, but their sound is beautifully intense and exuberant, especially in the two albums preceding this one.

This album really impressed me; I've had it on repeat these weeks, and as always, creativity, energy, and passion form the backbone of their music. This time, however, they've made this electro-punk/rock a bit more catchy, reducing the aggression in good doses for an approach that, in my opinion, is consistent with the past but definitely more melodic, which I appreciated from the start and makes it a super-replayable and continuous listening album. "Vatican Under Construction" is my favorite song!
