Great, it's nice to see LUM on DeBasio!
So, this 2016 I've had a binge of "strange" rap and I really liked Mista Thug Isolation... I consider it a bible and THE Album when it comes to revival-Memphis rap.
As for Oblivion Access, well... I think he really wanted to dive into experimentation here, maybe too much! Playing with noise music and creating a sound that's quite acidic despite being sparse and at times robotic (the track with the computerized voice?) and even though it eventually convinced me, it only did so after multiple listens.

In some parts, I'm not fully convinced because it seems like he wants to do certain things that other more or less similar artists, like Death Grips and clipping., do a bit better than him. Nevertheless, it's still a good album and I like that you described it as "sleepy" and "groove-less" because that's exactly the vision I have too.

Staying in this territory of experimental, depressed, dark hip hop, I feel like recommending (if you don't know them) the $UICIDEBOY$. They're a white American duo... probably the best thing to emerge from the underground in recent albums. Think of the darkest, sickest trap rap, revisited with an almost punk attitude (short but intense songs) and at the same time airy, dreamy atmospheres. Plus, they sample stuff like Boards Of Canada... and that's where I totally lose it hahaha.

Idealism = wow, how cool. 'Pogo'? 'I Want I Want'? 'Jupiter Room'? Listen excessively. Especially 'Pogo', which is featured in another FIFA (08).
I Love You, Dude = good, but not great.
Mirage = "EAT, GRANDMA, IT'S GOOD, YOU NEED TO GROW" "thanks, grandma, it's all very good but I'm not hungry anymore" "I TOLD YOU TO EAT!" "but grandma... I'm full! I'm begging you-" "EAT!"

So I really like the first part of the album, 'Arena', 'Battlecry', 'Go Time' and especially 'Destination Breakdown'. The rest is too... too much. I often skip the "double Mirage", I dance like an idiot to 'No Cash', and 'Dynamo' is cute. The rest isn't particularly beautiful or surprising. A bit like 'I Love You, Dude', then... but for almost 80 minutes. That's a lot. So I agree with your review.
They should focus more on the catchy tracks, which I think they excel at, and cut down on the experimental stuff; in the first album 'Zdarlight' was awesome, also because it broke the rhythm a bit, but when I listen to Digitalism, I want fresh and lively stuff, not a sort of lackluster cover band of -the two French guys in helmets-.

Fiquo the right one! I discovered them with this album last year, and their simple yet laid-back recipe works well... Every song is a hit and you find yourself humming all day long.

Wow, this album is so beautiful... Underneath the waves, probably my favorite from an album for which I can think of no other word but 'eternal'.

This guy is everywhere. Sometimes his voice annoys me, other times it's really pleasant in the mood of some tracks, especially in a few of the ones you've mentioned (TOKiMONSTA, Kaytranada, and ScHoolboy Q). What can I say... they're spamming this album everywhere (20th position on RYM!), it's time to give it a listen.

It’s nice when a review makes you think and smile at the same time.
Smile, not laugh, don’t get me wrong. I’m talking about those subtle smiles, halfway between surprise and “pleasure” that you get when you catch something interesting, visually, musically, and in this case, reading. Preferred!

'Teacher's Pet' is often hated for its ridiculous lyrics and the fact that it has nothing to do with the overall theme of the album, but it's definitely my favorite. Legendary album anyway, the words are wasted.

I've never understood how he manages not to get the cape caught in the rear wheel of the bike. TERENCE HILL CAN.
