The Verdena have never completely driven me crazy, but I've always appreciated them quite a bit... a typical example of how a talented band, with plenty of personality and guts, is subjected to mockery by all those indie idiots, Debaser fans, and not just because they've had some airplay on MTV and similar channels. If they had sung in English and no one had cared about them, you'd be there praising them... this attitude is as sheep-like as those listeners of commercial and stupid music that you criticize so much.

I REALLY LIKE THE MELVINS...BUT I FIND THEIR VERY EARLY ALBUMS TOO MONOTONOUS AND DEFINITELY OVERRATED...IT WOULD BE A 2 AND A HALF RATHER THAN A 3.

THE VERY EARLY WORKS OF THE MELVINS, EVEN THOUGH I APPRECIATE THEM FOR THEIR ATTITUDE/EXECUTION STYLE AND SOUND, DON'T CONVINCE ME MUCH FROM A COMPOSITIONAL POINT OF VIEW... THERE ARE ACCURATE RIFFS, BUT NOT A SINGLE VOCAL LINE THAT FITS WITH THE SONIC FABRIC AND COMPOSITIONS THAT ARE TOO MONOTONOUS... I CLEARLY PREFER THE ALBUMS FROM HOUDINI ONWARD, WHILE STILL APPRECIATING SOME TRACKS FROM THE EARLY RECORDS.

I agree with the reviewer...great album but perhaps it sacrifices, albeit slightly, the heartbreaking communicative urgency of other works...I discovered Vic not long ago and I think a posthumous reevaluation would be sad but not out of place...he wrote some great songs and as a performer, I find him truly expressive like very few others.

beautiful...but I prefer the first one! One downside for me is some passages in the lyrics...at times they do feel a bit cliché. Overall, though, great band and amazing energy in the live performances. That they are becoming well-known is more than deserved, no matter what the indie losers say.

Surely one of their best albums... I instead find their pre-major production rather monotonous, and not in a positive sense, with the exception of a few tracks here and there. Here, however, there is an excellent compromise between their creative vein and a certain "accessibility" due to greater attention to the vocal lines and a greater variety of tracks compared to their previous works.
