This is one of the albums I like the least by Manowar, a band that is among the most (if not the most) over-the-top in the metal scene, but they have done some great work like "Triumph Of Steel" and "Kings Of Metal." Burzum is an artist that I have never really understood musically; personally, I prefer Darkthrone, Immortal, and Emperor more. I’d rather not rate the review because writing about Burzum has become a bit like walking into a dead end, as everything has been said about his music—and the opposite of it—while his personal life is now known even by casual listeners of commercial pop! So, what can I say: among the leading figures of the BM that once was? A genius? A scoundrel with no art or part? I don’t know, it has always left me a bit indifferent... The review is not very descriptive (unless for diehard fans of the band, who can gather something from the comparisons made with previous albums) and does not convey what this group is proposing. I won't rate the album because I don't love metalcore, not for reasons of being too "commercial" or any other hang-ups like it’s not metal or anything, I simply find it a genre that is neither fish nor flesh, neither mainstream in the pure sense of the term nor extreme, a limbo that honestly leaves me indifferent and puzzled. Great review, you did well to frame the album's violence within the years it was released. In fact, today, compared to a RIB or a "Transilvanian Hunger" (the latter chosen precisely for being an emblem of black metal), it loses a lot in terms of speed and especially brutality. That said, this album is stunning, a classic that still sounds fantastic even at the end of 2009!

A beautiful review for an album to be regarded as a small treasure to be cherished in a display case and brought out whenever you want to listen to something immortal, brilliant, and absolutely poetic!
