Brat, I recommend pretty much everything that came out of America between 1980 and 1992 outside of the Major circuit. Rather than suggesting a specific album or band (which is difficult because there are millions), I’d suggest two labels without which the term indie (as I understand it) wouldn’t exist. One is SST (http://rateyourmusic.com/label/sst_records/ where you can find the entire catalog of the label) and Touch And Go (http://rateyourmusic.com/label/touch_and_go_records)... I think whatever you pick, anything at all, is worth it... of course, there are things that are more valuable and others that are less so, but all are still worthy of being known. Bye, Brat.

It depends on what you mean by indie. Indie is a way of doing, of relating to music. What I mean by Indie is the indie of the 80s, of people recording albums in a basement or with a four-track for 500 dollars. If indie for you is just a trend, I feel sorry for you because you've missed a great musical period. For the record: I will always use the category "indie" from now on... we need to reclaim things and their meanings, it's not a sound but the way that will lead you to create that sound.
