Nirvana MTV Unplugged In New York

"Prose is true poetry, as poetry is contrived." I think so too, and indeed I digest poetry only a little... but what is certain is that this concert is poetry in the true sense of the term, not contrived, because Cobain, tired of everything and especially tired of life, starts playing his songs, which he no longer felt were his, in a new way and without vain glory. Rather, in a setting of defeat. You always find contrived poetry in that of Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder who, a former gas station attendant from San Diego, called to sing in a band that had already signed a deal for 7 albums with a major label, writes "chosen" on his arm. That is not poetry. This is.

I have many McLaughlin vinyls that used to belong to the old man, I guess he liked them... but I have never been able to bring myself to play them. Who knows!?!

I disagree. You say "Forget about poetry and emotion" because Cobain, appearing with unkempt hair and in pajamas (not a shirt), was dodging the cameras, sipping tea, and likely wanted to be elsewhere, and it’s precisely that desire to be somewhere else that makes everything torturously poetic. Poetry, after all, is born from the lows of life, and that’s why Nirvana’s unplugged is what it is and Pearl Jam’s is that beautiful mess it is... some can do it and some can’t. And as for emotions residing in people who selfishly get moved beyond what the mover intends, that seems obvious to me; maybe some even get emotional in front of Pearl Jam's unplugged, and what can you say to them? Nothing.

But maybe, and I say maybe, you meant Piero Sgarrutti?

Well, I had read an article about them in a friend's Blow Up... but the article was too enthusiastic, so I felt a bit of a whiff of something suspicious. I'm looking them up. I understand the anticipation. I was waiting for the new Oneida (and I was greatly rewarded)... now I'm waiting for the new Motorspycho, recorded by Albini and available only on vinyl. The premises are there, it's just that how can you ask for more from Motorspycho, let alone psycho? :)
Sonic Youth The Eternal

So we all agree. Good, but nothing exceptional for them. Sonic Youth also had the ability to bring together the crowd of Debaser.

Ah! This evening I went to play five-a-side football... in my mind I was singing Iron Man, maybe because I was playing forward. :)

Good evening. I have to say I was much more rough around the edges. I didn’t alternate Nirvana with a Led Zeppelin record, but with a side of "The Best" (a "The Best" relative since I only knew those songs)... I remember the first track was Communication Breakdown and it was a thrill to hear it start. Anyway, I don't know about other places (I found this box set in Hamburg, the LP in Berlin), but you can find it online... it might not be cheap, but there are three records... and three records worth 5 stars (obviously for me). Odradek, go ahead, what were your favorites? If I don’t know them, I’ll look them up. I’ve been playing either the first Suicide album or the first by Marta and the Muffins lately... if I don’t change the neighbors, they’ll report me.

Of course you have to put the "for me" in front. The "for me" must come before everything. These are albums that are absolutely essential for me, and I find it only right to consider them essential and tremendously unfair to deem them non-essential. As far as I'm concerned, it would even be permissible if the Avenger found the penis essential, and for that he shouldn't be put to the stake or ridiculed (well, maybe a few jokes here and there)... come on, everything is relative, except for the fact that Albini produces nothing, but only directs :) Josi, thanks to you too... reach out more often, you're fun.
