for @42: so I finished watching it yesterday (or rather, I managed to finish it yesterday, I couldn’t binge it all at once, I preferred to consume it in small doses), needless to say it's an appreciable film even if it's not my genre (and it never will be..). I still want to reinforce my point: if it presents itself as a "snapshot" of modern bourgeoisie or of that time, then I find it quite "improbable" as a work. It might make sense to highlight the crisis of certain values (if that’s what Rohmer intended), but if the film suggests that society is exactly as he portrays it here, then I disagree. It somewhat reminds me of Capra’s "utopias," like in the film "It's a Wonderful Life." In short, I think it has a too personal and, above all, simplistic view of the bourgeoisie; at least that's what I inferred from the film. Perhaps (actually probably..) I’ve given it the wrong interpretation, or more simply, I watched it too hastily or distractedly, who knows! Qualitatively and artistically, it is still commendable.

I listened to some tracks from the first album, and I must admit I need to reconsider my initial judgments. In fact, songs like "Angel of Death," the title track, and even "Dr. Phibes" aren't bad at all. So, as I said, I will reassess (but I didn't say by how much... uuhahahhahahaha!)
