Syd Barrett Barrett
Voto:
Moderately schizophrenic review. The production of Barrett as a solo artist is truly impeccable. Manifestations of pure genius about which perhaps everything has been said (too much?). Last artistic testimonies of a man who, all in all, had fewer problems than many other rockstars who still fill stadiums after forty or fifty years. Don't be fooled, Syd was really a genius: it's not just about taking drugs and LSD to write songs like his.
Gallon Drunk Tonite... the Singles Bar

I don't know this album, but Gallon Drunk (even though I left them back in the Fire Music days) are really good. Underrated. The comparison to Nick Cave's evil seeds probably also comes from the more or less stable collaboration between the Australian and James Johnston, as the frontman has been a Bad Seed sporadically (I believe regularly since 2002-2003). I've never seen them live, but I can confirm that Johnston is a great musician since I caught him "out and about" with Lydia Lunch and Mick Harvey and he has always impressed me. Anyway, great review.

S4doll. You're right. Additionally, it's also true that I've never seen a Japanese person in Japanese comics.

This album, like the subsequent "From the Mouth of the Lion," is truly beautiful. Impeccable. And the inevitable comparison with Joy Division [whom I might even prefer] should not mislead, as this is a fantastic band and Borland is a guitarist (and songwriter) as inspired as, if not more than, Bernard Sumner himself. Well done. And a fair review.

Great hatred towards America? I have the opposite opinion. I've always seen [in their aesthetics, but especially in certain pseudo lofi-indierock sounds that characterize their "maturity (?)"] a constant wink towards certain American environments and sounds typical of the nineties. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, I would say this album is absolutely negligible. The FIFA, however, I confirm it was '98. I think there was also the rooster of the French World Cup. And in Corinthians there was the legendary Marcelinho Carioca, who (however) was really bad. Damn software!

Nothing to say. Impeccable page [as always]. Dearest Doctor, I must say that you are truly the best reviewer ever seen on this site of, indeed, reviews. Hats off.

Whether manga - and comics in general - are a work of art is debatable (that doesn’t negate the fact that Superman is stronger than Batman and any other superhero, of course). I’m not familiar with this comic, but I caught the cartoon on television during some depressing and sultry summer afternoons. It’s not as thrilling as Conan the super detective with glasses, but it’s not absolutely hideous either. One last thought: a twenty-two-year-old professor? Miracles of the Japanese economic system?!
