Odradek, you’re asking me a question that’s hard to answer. Off the top of my head, I’d say that in the last twenty years, artists like Howe Gelb, Nick Cave (before he lost himself), Stan Ridgway, and Robyn Hitchcock have released some noteworthy albums. I'm particularly fond of, and recommend, Mick Harvey's last two works: One Man's Treasure and Two of Diamonds. Among local artists, I can't help but mention Federico Fiumani (Diaframma). But I'm sure I'm forgetting someone. Finally, it’s never too late to discover or rediscover something "old" and perhaps learn something in the process.

I forgot the vote.

It’s also the (excellent) production by Steve Lillywhite that enriches what is perhaps the best album by Ultravox! (I don’t even consider Ultravox without the exclamation mark). John Foxx, a powerhouse, charismatic leader, and top-level vocalist, is already an excellent author/composer here. Far from Midge Ure...

Debaser has condemned you, but I give you five. Five also to the album, perhaps one of my all-time favorites.
Micah P. Hinson And The Red Empire Orchestra

Of Micah Paul Hinson, I only know his debut (which, between us, was a five). I don’t know this one, but it’s time to make up for that. Five for the review.
Mark Lanegan Field Songs
Voto:
Five. Perhaps Lanegan's best album. I need to revisit it.

I don't know the album and I doubt I will LISTEN to it.

I don't know the album and I doubt I will, as I'm not familiar with macumbe and mystical rites aimed at exorcising bad luck. But I really enjoyed the review. Five, congratulations.

I'll quote myself:
A decent test of good old Nick. Ups and downs. Let’s give it a three point five. He’s not aging well anyway (though it might depend on the point of view).

I don't even remember how this record came into my hands. I just didn't like it at all.
