In the last week, I haven't been able to shake this record off... this one and the one by "The Joy Formidable" (a Welsh band I recommend).

"From These Wounds" really hit me, it's a great album (let's say 4+). It's true, this one is definitely inferior, but I think I would give it more than 2...maybe a solid 3. Let's see what happens next...Take care, Casamorta!

"the book is a colossal load of nonsense": this is a colossal load of nonsense. PS: it’s written "À bientôt".

I don't really like the review. There are points where it's poorly done, there are some grammatical errors and it says very little that's new. A glaring mistake is that "allegory of the human condition"; if you had delved deeper into Tolkien you'd know that he detested allegories. 2.5, I'm sorry, even though I understand that tackling this work is very challenging. I hope you don't hold it against me.

"There, in the Land of Merdor, but really Merdor, which couldn’t be more Merdor. Like.....like Busto Arsizio" :D Memorable!

Bah, in my opinion, those who criticize this work do so only out of prejudice. It is NOT a fantasy book in the strict sense; let’s not reduce such a book to an overused little word like "fantasy." The book itself can be heavy at times and slows down the reading (rating: 4), but I give it a 5 for all the world behind it, for the lifetime of work that lies behind it. I think of his academic work - lecturer in Anglo-Saxon Language and Literature at Oxford, his vast knowledge of medieval English literature and Germanic philology. In this book, Tolkien regenerates ancient EPIC, infusing it with the same strength found in the great epic poems of the Germanic tradition (which does not mean 'German'). Echoes of the Nibelungen, the Ring of Wotan/Odin, the Germanic oral tradition resonate throughout. He creates an entire world that becomes real thanks to his power of mythopoeia. And as if that weren't enough, he creates a complete linguistic corpus; he becomes a glottopoiet. And so, thanks to his knowledge of linguistics, he shapes imaginary languages, which gain strength through an absolutely realistic system, with thoroughly realistic mechanisms. Guys, if you can't recognize and appreciate the work that goes into this book (and all of Tolkien's others), then just leave it be. It's okay to express opinions; that's normal, but saying it's a childhood book populated only by elves and various nonsense is not acceptable. Absolutely not. And then the line between good and evil is more blurred than one might think; the psychologies of the characters are more complex than they seem. Let’s not fall into easy judgments.

I agree with Ale9t0 about the vote: it's an emotional issue. And it’s definitely better than "The Open Door." I believe the eternal metal/non-metal debate is pointless: they have never defined themselves as metal, so it’s high time to stop labeling them as posers or "liars." It’s true that sometimes the guitars get heavier than your typical pop-rock. The same goes for the dark/gothic side: they can’t be defined as gothic (which is something else), but there’s undeniably a certain taste for a more baroque darkness. And I see no harm in that. A bit pop, yes, but too much for the MTV generation in my opinion. I consider them deeper than a pseudo-rock/metal pop band for kids, even though they’re not exactly a group I listen to regularly. Every now and then, I still enjoy listening to them (but really, every ONCE in a while!). So I kindly invite you to stop bashing them for no reason; there are plenty of others who deserve it! Amy Lee has a beautiful voice, and I’m curious to see what she will bring in the next album (she’s also been playing the harp for a while). And of course, she is very fiqua :) Regarding the review: it’s simplistic, repetitive, poorly thought out, and useless because it doesn’t say anything interesting about the compositions. Those who give it a 5 only do so out of disdain for the band, because the review is far from deserving a 5 (feel free to do it, although it seems a bit silly).
