@CASA: oh, so I would be refined? :) Well, neither the Behemoth nor Uncle Burzy seem refined to me, my lord ;-)

The review is extremely lengthy; I stopped before the tbt because it’s too tough a task right now. I might revisit it later. I’ve never been a die-hard fan of theirs, but I've always enjoyed their music, sometimes more, sometimes less. Every NOW AND THEN they’re good (although it’s been quite a while since I’ve listened to something of theirs, I must say). Anyway... I listened VERY quickly and, apparently, this time they’ve churned out a pile of crap.

Taxi, and stop hanging on "on debaser.it you can talk (even badly) about any artist," how tedious! I DIDN'T SAY YOU CAN'T! I’m saying that in my opinion, the way you do it is misleading. Forever, if we base ourselves on what a website's database says about musical proposals, we're in trouble! On some sites, I've seen certain pairings that make the skin crawl... I don’t consider such indications truly significant, as they are simply based on the similarity of a little word ("gothic" or "neo-classic"). It's obvious that they might not be liked, but - without malice - I still consider your standards of comparison wrong. Anyone who knows the Elend’s proposal well enough will tell you that it’s VERY difficult to find something that truly comes close. Saying they offer a singular proposal doesn't automatically mean they MUST be liked; but I firmly maintain that they are not comparable to anyone.

In fact, I absolutely did not say that you shouldn't express your opinion, but simply that in my view, you are steering the discussion towards something incorrect by making misleading comparisons. I (and not just me) conceive of the Elend in a highly different way than the projects you mentioned, that's all.

Well, honestly, without any malice ForeverYoung, but your "you don't say much, but you do it well eheheheh" just seems like a commonality of thought, because instead, NO, it doesn't do it well... it doesn't talk about the album! Bah, whatever...

No ForeverYoung, in my opinion, you are both going down the wrong path; you are making erroneous comparisons. I honestly don't understand the constant comparison with Dark Sanctuary; they have almost nothing in common. All this associating Elend with them, the 3rd (which I don’t even know what they have to do with it), and also with Trobar de Morte is really misleading. Elend's proposal is much more complex; they focus on orchestration and often on a "violent" mood (listen to "The Umbersun" and "A World In Their Screams," then let me know...), much darker than the acts you mentioned. The focal point of their proposal (from "The Umbersun" onwards) is the orchestra, a TRUE orchestra made up of numerous elements, which is NOT PRESENT in the artists you referenced. Not to mention the noise intertwining, which doesn't exist at all in Dead Can Dance or Dark Sanctuary. I repeat, for me it is a mistake to associate them with names like those you mentioned; it is misleading and leads to sterile comparisons. The music of Elend is different, period. I also emphasize that there is a big difference between Officium Tenebrarum and Wind Cycle.
