Anaal Nathrakh Hell Is Empty, and All the Devils Are Here
Voto:
Discovered by chance! I had heard their name mentioned a few times in the past, but I always thought of them as an ultra-underground band (or maybe a one-man band) of erotic black merdal (that "anaal" made me think wrongly! I'm quite delicate when it comes to black), so I never approached them. Instead, last week I caught a glimpse of a review (the one for the new album, which I might also review here) on another site and I said, "uh, what a beautiful cover, let's see a little" and I discovered a really solid group (not to mention that "anaal" has nothing to do with rear ends!), nicely contaminated and absolutely violent. Great! The rating would be a 4.5, rounding up. I slightly prefer the new one. I haven't listened to the rest yet.

@Sotanaht/Thanatos: yes, starting from DO and then going in chronological order is better, that’s the first thing I recommended too. Then maybe we’ll move on to the previous period...

@GustavoTanz: do you happen to remember which song it was? So, if you want to start from the "dark rock/metal" period, kick off with DISCOURAGED ONES. Still raw, with a Renkse who hasn't yet mastered his clean voice, but that's exactly where its charm lies; and that album is of an indescribable depression! :D Then you could go in chronological order, or with VIVA EMPTINESS but especially THE GREAT COLD DISTANCE. After you've "digested" this phase, you could tackle the doom/death era, DANCE OF DECEMBER SOULS and especially BRAVE MURDER DAY (which I think is incorrect to define as doom/death - or at least imprecise - and already features some solutions that can be heard in the subsequent DO). If anyone disagrees, feel free to suggest alternative paths ;) Casamorta, what do you say??

But yes! We care for each other! I’m not mad at anyone, far from it :D There are other problems in life! :) Come on, let’s care for each other black!

"I don’t think that a duplicate review is inherently a bad thing, especially if it’s presented from a different perspective than the previous one." That’s true, but at the moment I had gotten caught up in a rather negative judgment of the album (which is subjective, after all), mainly due to the various comments like “pop-rock,” “little originality and personality,” and “approaching the mainstream,” which I consider inaccurate. It’s fine to have different tastes and impressions, but I find these latter statements misinformed. Undoubtedly, with the change in style, their music has become more accessible, but it still remains far from being commercially viable for the "mainstream."

I didn't take offense at the request for explanations, imagine! I just turned up my nose at that 'distortion' of my "I disagree," which indeed didn't sound at all like "what you've written is meaningless." Opinions are opinions, and therefore - as such - none is "more right" than the other, because - especially when it comes to music and art in general - they are very subjective. You mention Anathema: I don't agree, I can't associate them with Katatonia in that way. But that's just my impression, that's all. The important thing is that music gives us something ;)

PS: I didn't even say it was forbidden to write duplicates, I only mentioned that the votes decreased because of this, not that you should be banned for writing a duplicate. And I say it again, I admit I was too harsh with the judgment.

Yes, perhaps I was too harsh with my judgment, that's true. Anyway, look, I never wrote anywhere that your phrases are "incomprehensible or meaningless." If you tell me where you read this... I only said - like Casamorta before me - that I DO NOT AGREE on some things. That's quite different from saying that your writing is incomprehensible or meaningless! I don't hear this "pop-rock" in the sound of Katatonia, and it doesn't seem impersonal to me either; I have yet to find a band that sounds even remotely like them (including this album, which you appreciate less compared to others). Let's not put words in mouths that weren't said, please.

As already mentioned, a duplicate (and consequently the vote goes down). Furthermore, I also disagree with some of the things you've expressed, such as that "pop-rock with an alternative flavor," "little personal vein" (!) etc. The Katatonia album I prefer is DISCOURAGED ONES: at times it almost brings me to tears, it has the power to evoke lost memories and sensations in my mind. At the end, I would add "The Great Cold Distance" and "Brave Murder Day." I look forward to "Night Is The New Day" with impatience :)

Jurix! I just heard a rumor... has anyone been talking about me? :D Eeeeh, Casamorta, it rained here yesterday. But not too much, alas! At least now it's cooler. Nice catch, but the proposal doesn’t attract me at all though :P
