I have been re-evaluating this album for some time now and I must say it’s really beautiful. I still think that 'Idle Blood' and 'Inheritance' are the worst (stars: 2.5 and 2). For the others, I can identify three categories: EXCELLENT (The Longest Year, Departer), GREAT (New Night, Nephilim, Forsaker, Day & Then The Shade), and GOOD (the remaining ones except for the two I mentioned at the beginning, although here I find additional differences between the tracks in terms of quality). This is my impression. I spent a lot of time listening to it on repeat; it was great company.

I’m listening to the latest... I discovered them a month ago, I didn’t know them before. Interesting. Long live Lovecraft!

@MaTaCà: yeah XD Today I was indeed busy with my Germanic philology book on the chapters about Gothic and Upper German :D slurp! Who knows if we'll ever find out in which Amerindian language these texts were written. XD ----- @Belegurth: when the academic year starts, the time for reading and commenting decreases (and the time for reviewing disappears -.-") so I mainly focus on short reviews that cover genres I’m interested in. See you next time! PS: if you feel like it, read some of mine, bye.

I also stumbled upon this group last year, but – like 90% of the funeral – I can't seem to approach it. It's challenging stuff to listen to. A few months ago, their new album came out; it seems to be just a tad "lighter" than this one. As for their aura of mystery, I think it's something constructed; I don't know if to give credit to these "archaeological studies on ancient texts" (after all, studies on texts are not archaeological, but rather philological, linguistic, and paleographic... but I know it's reported that way). I would really be curious to know what a linguist or a philologist thinks about the texts of this band.

Better review than the others I've read from you. The only objection is that "very difficult to listen to" at the end; I don't think it's wrong, but it sounds really terrible to me :D Anyway, I won't even try to listen to this album.......bye! PS: Punisher, one thing is the review, another is the work being reviewed.

I don't really like the review; I would give it a 3. That kind of TBT is pointless, and in my opinion, you should have focused on the use that Eluveitie make of traditional instruments. Then there are several things about the structure of your reviews that I don't like, especially how the sentences are constructed and some lexical choices. But I can't define and list these aspects because they relate a bit to the overall form of the writing. I'm sorry I can't provide you with more detailed feedback. The album is very beautiful; I would give it a strong 4. However, the opening of the review makes it seem like this is their latest album, but that's not the case. "Evocation I - The Arcane Dominion" left a bad impression on me (let's consider it as an off-the-cuff experiment). Let's wait for the release of the new one, which should come out in the early months of 2010. PS: to improve your reviewing technique, you could read some reviews from Hell, mementomori, and OzzyRotten. Bye! PPS: come on Yosif, enough with those stupid jabs. And "Black metal listened to one is listened to all" is a big load of nonsense. It's true that there are billions of bands sounding alike, you can't deny that, but there are also plenty of black bands doing very different things from each other.

I have no doubt that the yellow card for Favaro was warranted, of course. He definitely deserved it, no question about that. I didn't mind Marcato as an opener either...
