Saramago is splendid. Lansdale turns me on big time. And Carver, who is he? I'm 'gnuraaaaant. @Kosmo: I wouldn’t gloss over the first one. But I'm not sure, to be honest. In the end, it’s a real thriller and you read it in no time, despite the length :) I would give it a try!

Well done Freddo, I support you. It’s a matter of taste, but I enjoyed the book, I liked the whole trilogy. IN ITS GENRE, mind you, it’s great and really helps you disconnect. Badly written books are something else, read "Il gioco dell'angelo" by Zafón, now that one really sucks.
