affinity of harmonic approach does not mean influence, it means affinity. How many musicians have affinity without being influenced? It could be that Monk was influenced by Parker having had affinity... objective testimonies say that all the new musicians of the 40s followed Charlie Parker.

But Parker was already innovative when he played in McShean's orchestra in the '40s and didn't even know who Monk was. Your interpretations, including those of contemplation, are just assumptions (influenced by a certain passion, huh). Why does it make you smile that he recorded "Watts," the song by Jobim? In my opinion, it's pleasant, and I'm not denigrating Gilberto (you can see my ratings in one of your reviews), but I'm not a stadium fan.
