I’ll share my thoughts too: I find that as a singer, Collins is not to be underestimated at all. But aside from the technical comparison, which doesn't interest me that much, I believe that Gabriel, with his theatricality, etc., brought that extra something to Genesis that Collins didn’t have, and indeed, his absence is felt in the two excellent albums that followed his departure. I wouldn’t criticize Genesis too harshly for their pop turn; in the end, they produced seven beautiful albums and they made their contribution to prog. It’s perhaps better in some respects to draw a clear line and end things rather than unwillingly end up doing self-parodies, as I honestly don’t think we would have gotten any new Foxtrot or Selling… How do you think the tenth or fifteenth prog album by Genesis would have turned out? Always at the same level as the previous ones?

Well, I believe it's normal to "drift away" to some extent from one's roots; after all, after spending years in a niche, it makes sense to want to change the air a bit. Besides, in the end, I’ve felt a connection to the fundamental groups—not all of them, but a good part—so even there, one doesn't always want to hear the same thing served up in different styles by countless clones. Instead, the world of machines and alienation undoubtedly has its charm (after all, I was also attracted to groups with dark/claustrophobic/alienating atmospheres before), even if I still can’t fully appreciate electronic music like I do with other genres. For example, during the day, I find it much harder to enjoy it than at night; I don’t know why, but it feels like nighttime music to me in order to reach its full potential.

Ok, thanks, I'll let you know! By the way, I listen to just about everything, from the Beatles to the Swans, so there shouldn't be any problems ^^

@bartle: what would the neo-heavy psych scene be? a couple of bands/albums to give me an idea?

It's true that there are various levels of storytelling, but they simply make unnecessarily complicated a story that is, in itself, trivial; of course, I didn't expect a treatise on metaphysics, but at least in 300 there was a minimum of plot, there was pathos and so on. Here, the author wanted to go overboard, and the action scenes are forced in (or rather, it would be better to say that the plot is forced in to somehow connect the four action scenes, each about ten minutes long), and they're all so brief that they can't develop properly. I didn't see anything spectacular, and I found it boring (the world of the world war could have been interesting, but even there everything is too fast).

Great then! Anyway, I don't think it lasts that long; I think it's about two hours if I remember correctly.
