Squarepusher is great, but I also really like Venetian Snares. If you want to go for something more "soft" and perhaps enjoyable even for a rock fan, I would recommend something like "Neon Golden" by The Notwist (a masterpiece!); it blends electronic/(nu)kraut/rock/pop and avoids overly "cold" and minimalist-repetitive tones. Another good group to start with electronic music for me are Kraftwerk (Trans-Europe Express and Autobahn).
