Swans The Burning World

I am one of those who appreciates the angrier version of the swans the most... :D

So, since I gave it to my sister who loves them, I've had the chance to listen to this album a couple of times and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. Okay, we're in the midstream territory, but the album is really not bad at all and pretty varied. Moreover, I don't mind the new "stoner-pop" influences at all. Since this is the first album of theirs I've listened to after the first two, I was curious to hear the much-praised post-humbug sound, and indeed there is a noticeable maturation compared to their purely cute and noisy debut.

However, it doesn't seem to me that the post is not appreciated by critics; on the contrary, both in rock and metal certain bands have been quite hyped (and rightly so), like the guardian deities you mention in your review.

For me, the peak of Jefferson, it's incredible that I haven't commented on it yet! :D Not as psychedelic as the other peak, After Bathing, but in terms of composition/melody, they really reach their highest point here, the album of maturity (in a good sense).

I don't mind them, but in general this proto-prog-symphonic hasn't aged particularly well in terms of sound, unlike actual "true" prog. In any case, some of their albums, like this one and those mentioned by March, are worth it, even if I might listen to them only once in a while.

What a shame, I hoped for something better; I too had read about her and I was hoping for something more enticing... :( Anyway, I agree that she is stunning; she exudes an undeniable charm! ^_^
