OFF! First Four EPs
Voto:
Keith Morris has always been one of my favorite vocalists, pitch be damned! Great album.
The 13th Floor Elevators Bull Of The Woods
Voto:
Not a bad album, but absolutely not on the level of the first two, and, I don't know, anyway I’ve always placed Easter Everywhere a notch above the first work.
Pink Floyd Animals
Voto:
The Piper, A Saucerful Of Secrets, and Ummagumma on the podium. Great Atom Heart Mother and Meddle. I've already expressed my thoughts on the post-Meddle era elsewhere. Excellent review.
Pink Floyd The Best Of Pink Floyd: A Foot In The Door
Voto:
I detest compilations, usually shameless profit-driven operations, nothing more. So, from this latest compilation, is everything from the first, and in my opinion the best, period of the Floyd excluded? Even worse. I know that for some it may be heresy, but honestly, since Meddle, I can't stand them anymore. With utmost respect for everyone, of course!
Cathedral The Ethereal Mirror
Voto:
The vote is extremely personal: I've never really been able to make myself like them too much, I don't know how to explain... "Metal" in a way I'm not used to (?!?). Anyway, The Carnival Bizarre is the only one I can listen to, despite the fact that I own 5 of their works.
The Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream
Voto:
The only Smashing Pumpkins album that I really liked. I find it truly excellent work, with peaks of absolute beauty ("Rocket," "Silverfuck"). Half of Mellon Collie. The rest didn’t do much for me, never resonating even in the best cases (Gish), and irritating in others (Machina). I haven’t even listened to Zeitgeist, aside from two or three snippets of tracks.
Black Lips Arabia Mountain
Voto:
The first two albums, especially the second one (We did not know...), were among the records I enjoyed the most in the past decade. Then they lost their charm for my tastes. I listened to this one, and it seemed even more watered down and bland to me, I don't know!
Jane's Addiction The Great Escape Artist
Voto:
More and more respect for Eric Avery, who has always been indifferent to this plastic reunion. I prefer to remember Jane's Addiction in their golden days, at City Square in Milan. As for Perry Farrell, since Good God's Urge with Porno For Pyros, he's been putting out crap.
King Crimson In The Wake Of Poseidon
Voto:
Does it have too many similarities with the previous one? Who cares, I say, when the quality is so high, why should we worry! Until Red, they won’t miss a beat.
King Crimson The Power To Believe
Voto:
I listened to it at the time of its release, and it didn't tell me much. I agree with the reviewer. Of them, even though almost nothing is thrown away, RED remains on my personal pedestal!
