@alia76: Don't worry, there was no polemic tone in my words, just a very general observation about a widely spread style. In cinema, there are already more expressive possibilities, but for example, you can recognize German TV shows from the very first frame.

Goodness gracious, I just realized that De_Lorenzo (note the underscore) is not De Lorenzo! What a fool I am. Alright then, I confirm the 3-1.

@Bartleboom: because I follow DeBaser on Twitter and I get to see the world premiere reviews! Olè! By the way: if an editor reads this comment, please, correct my votes... I WANTED TO GIVE 1-1!!! I don’t know how it came out as a 3!! I'm sorry!

I watched "The Lives of Others" on Rai Uno because it was recommended by everyone and hailed as a masterpiece of our time: the typical way to be biased and prejudiced when watching a film. Instead, I completely changed my mind: the absolute visual and acting coldness of the movie, typical of German filmmaking, wonderfully suits the plot and the characters, the pacing is perfect, everything flows. But, above all, what struck me was the stunning ending, so touching and real that it brought me to tears (and trust me, I'm not one to easily fall for that). The psychological development of the characters is phenomenal, and the sense of "goodness" so pure (I would dare say almost like Capra's) that intimately pervades the man is a message so rare to find in recent films that I feel compelled to give it an extra star. Stunning.

@KyraCollins: truly, I am a Wikipedia user (you can find the link to my page in my profile here on DeBaser), I believe in the philosophy of the site, I actively support the project, and therefore I do not attribute any negative value to the term. The meaning of the adjective "wikipediosissima" is perfectly identical to "enciclopedicissima" since Wikipedia is nothing but an encyclopedia. Regarding the parallel I proposed, Whistler-ukiyoe and Raphael-Parugino, I don't believe it's entirely outlandish since the American painter drew everything from Japanese prints just as the Urbino artist took everything from his Umbrian master. Look at the canvas while disregarding the details to focus on the organizational structure: it is evident that the space is divided with rigidity equal to that of Japanese houses which the author could only have known through prints, and I am not just referring to the three-dimensional space of the room, but also to the juxtaposition of color rectangles onto which the figure of the old lady rests. Note, too, how the curtain is actually nothing more than kimono fabric. Furthermore, there is absolutely no three-dimensionality in the work: the only vaguely perspective element is that diagonal line at the bottom left (try covering it with your finger and you will see that the old lady practically floats in the void). A final detail is the artist's signature, which is not written out in full but is represented with a monogram in pure ukiyoe style. Hoping I haven't explained myself poorly, I will repeat what I intended to say in comment #19: you spent 3340 characters discussing a lot of things less than the essence.

EACH SINGLE SENTENCE was screaming "Stop reading! Stop reading!". But I read it all. Probably the worst review on DeBaser of 2009: I've never read anything so sycophantic, blind, exaggerated, and even stupid on this site. The first paragraph deserves to be printed on Ingres paper, framed, and hung in the gallery of the best of the best on DeBaser. If I didn't know that the author is De_Lorenzo, I might think this review is ironic, but I know the author is De_Lorenzo and so I know it isn't.

@Cornell: sacred words that I truly agree with, but the purpose of the program is not to give visibility to art music, but rather, as it is honestly stated at the beginning of each single episode, "to find the new pop star." Nothing more.
