M. Night Shyamalan Unbreakable
Voto:
Honestly, I've never liked "The Sixth Sense": I figured out the final twist right from the start, so the expectation effect didn’t work on me, not to mention the irritation that the kid Haley Joel Osment causes me. Therefore, unlike for others, "The Sixth Sense" isn't a heavy reference for me, but rather a sort of initial experiment that isn't particularly good. Instead, what I believe to be Shyamalan's absolute masterpiece is the stunning "The Village," but let's not go off topic. "Unbreakable" is a good film, better than its predecessor and much better executed in terms of both suspense and the actual film quality. Four stars is too much, but it certainly deserves more than three.
Rowan Atkinson Mr. Bean Nella Stanza 426
Voto:
Beautiful review, splendid episode. The rating is for Mr. Bean in general, an extraordinary character portrayed by an actor who often brushes against genius, and sometimes even achieves it. The episodes of the series are beautiful; I particularly love this one and the one about golf, but the films are not bad either: the first one is very American in style and extremely funny, while the second is much more European and even touching.

@tomgil: it was amazing, by Porno Graffiti. Let's also remember that this TV series contains at least one episode that rightfully belongs among the masterpieces of animation history: yes, the 7, the one with the girl turned into a chimera.

I will be honest: I recognize that "Full Metal Alchemist" is a great work, but it has never fully captured me; I've never made the leap from "beautiful" to "masterpiece"... but we can still give it the fifth star for its undeniable value, and because today I feel generous with such a heartfelt, worthy, and compelling review.
Kylie Minogue Kylie Minogue
Voto:
Good review, one extra star because I completely agree with the reviewer. Kylie has had a very varied career and in the '90s she was a true alternative singer, in fact much more alternative than the so-called alternative bands. The album is good, but it suffers from the usual problem with Kylie: good or very good singles, but the rest are often forgettable fillers.

Reading this review was an absolute pleasure, and I'm not just saying that because I agree with about 90% of what’s been written (especially the part about cultural barbarism, which is undeniable, and Silvio's involvement is a fact). The only problem is that I used to find Checco Zalone pathetic, whereas now he entertains me: oh, it's not that he makes me piss myself laughing, but he's pleasant to listen to and makes me smile. He has absolutely nothing genius and very little original, but he does what he does well, and he’s less vulgar (in the sense of being lowbrow) than other crude buffoons like the crude buffoons from "Colorado," which is indeed the black hole of Italian TV. To put it like Morgan, Checco Zalone is "popular," while the crude buffoons from "Colorado" are "populists." I haven't seen the movie and I doubt I'll spend money on it, but I don't think it's terrible.

As usual, the review is good, clear, and thorough... but where do you find the time to write at this pace?

No, you don’t seem either retrograde or nostalgic: acknowledging the value of the past is perfectly acceptable. The problem is that you’re giving this game 4 stars, which deserves at most 2, maybe 3 because it’s Christmas, just because it was the cult of your youth. Mmmh, that’s not how it works.
Fabri Fibra Mr. Simpatia
Voto:
Hi Avvincino, welcome to DeBaser! I already like your nickname! ;D Much less your debut review, written more to praise Fibra than to attempt a real critique. Frankly, the album is not for me, and I do not recognize it as being of great quality. Fabri Fibra is not stupid; he often thinks of things that are somewhat intelligent or pseudo-intelligent, but then he ruins it all with his need to appear, his idiosyncrasies (it's 2010, being homophobic is ridiculous by now), and his incredible ability to attract hate towards himself... which perhaps fills him with pride, but is NOT constructive.
Charles Schultz Peanuts

Reviewing decades of comics all at once is certainly debatable; I would have recommended choosing a single work (I don’t know, given the season "A Charlie Brown Christmas!"). I don’t say this as a reproach to the reviewer, far from it, but because I understand that with such a broad theme, it becomes overly generalized, and in the end, discussing it turns into a newspaper article rather than a review, as has indeed happened here.
