Alberto Burri Cretto di Gibellina

I also have a second note, more important.
Peter Eisenman’s Holocaust memorial, an architect who deserves no less interest than that reserved for Alberto Burri, is an exceptional work and cannot be dismissed as something akin to a "bad copy" of Burri’s Cretto di Gibellina. Its greater notoriety is due to many reasons, starting from the certainly more famous theme and the certainly more accessible location, but that doesn’t mean there are more visitors in Berlin than in Gibellina because of the ignorant masses. We should also ask ourselves where Gibellina is located, how to access it, and whether its relative isolation is part of Burri's artistic intentions (the Berlin memorial, right in the urban center, is the roof of a large underground museum, designed specifically to host as many people as possible, unlike Gibellina which is lost in the countryside and has only a small parking lot).
Finally, the very high notoriety of the Berlin memorial and the fact that it is visited by millions of people make it a victim of behaviors that can only be described as disgusting, such as half-naked influencers taking Instagrammable photos or people performing dance routines for TikTok. These phenomena at least for now do not concern Burri's work.
In practice, I wouldn't compare the two monuments to death in Gibellina and Berlin so directly: they certainly have formal and content-related affinities, but their conceptual, constructive, communicative, and geographical divergences make them remarkably distant, I would say opposite. I don't think it's a coincidence that Burri's work is white and Eisenman's is black.

Brilliant work, a concise yet excellent review to introduce the cretto to those who were unfamiliar with it and to spark conversation, as these comments demonstrate.
A small note: the work began in the 1980s and was completed in 2015.

A milestone of hip-hop, no doubt, and at times even of Italian music in general.
Alfred Hitchcock Sabotage

Alfred Hitchcock is my absolute favorite director. Every one of his works is worth attention; even the less successful ones like "Torn Curtain" or "Topaz" still possess a narrative intelligence and mental construction that we only find today in the most auteur-driven films. Here’s Hitchcock: a tremendous narrative complexity, yet so simple to enjoy. I agree with the whole review, "Sabotage" is indeed a minor Hitchcock, but "even a minor hitch holds half of the genre and degenerate cinema in its pocket."

I quote @[CYPHER]: Burton tragically passed away in 1999 after completing his last, wonderful masterpiece "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," and was then replaced by a lookalike who grotesquely but ineffectively mimics his style, like Paul Is Dead. Nothing he produced in the 21st century is even remotely decent, no, not even "Big Fish," which isn't bad in itself, but is not worthy of Burton's good name. I haven't seen this series and honestly have no desire to, and the review seems to confirm that I'm right to feel this way.

I really appreciated the review; it seemed very honest and quite analytical in considering the various musical and extra-musical factors that make up this band. In fact, I would have expanded on this latter topic by discussing their artistic partnership with Gucci, which I find to be of central importance (with excellent results that go well beyond mere commercial promotion). The only thing I disagree with is the cover: I think it’s beautiful, a photo by Francis Delacroix that struck me from the very first time I saw it, both for its formal values and because, even if probably unintentionally, it explicitly references the entrance (literally!) of André, a character from Proust's “Recherche,” whom we see for the first time jumping down from a stage, leaping with his skirt billowing above the audience.

I'm not a fan of the band, but this beautiful review has made me really want to listen to the album. Of course, I won't understand it like you do because I lack the background on RHCP (beyond the music videos that MTV played back in the day), but it's nice to share a happy moment for someone else.
