@ cptgaio: no, unfortunately the new CD by Sophie is taking its time. In the ad that I linked in comment #51, you can hear the new single "Sophia Loren," which is beautiful, but the album keeps facing continuous delays and postponements... the latest official announcement pushes the album back to autumn 2009, let’s hope for the best.

I almost forgot to mention among the "types" also Alison Goldfrapp, who is not a conventional beauty, but I find her fantastic.

Exceptional film: despite the minor plot, the director managed to develop a film that is not boring and describes the human soul with extraordinary mastery. Together with the other two, it forms a five-star trilogy, pure history and theory of cinema.
Hayao Miyazaki Ponyo Sulla Scogliera

Since the word "visionary" was invented for Guillermo Del Toro (who is indeed a great visionary...), it has been slapped onto everyone: Zack Snyder (???), Michael Bay (??????), Christopher Nolan, Hayao Miyazaki... If these are “visionaries,” then what was Federico Fellini? I don’t want to delve too deeply into the matter since everyone has their own tastes, but I wholeheartedly agree with tiz and especially eletto1987: when I went to the movies, a friend of mine clapped loudly as soon as the Studio Ghibli logo appeared... it's a gesture of an otaku who expects to see a masterpiece and, if it’s not, will convince themselves that it is. I don’t know if I’m getting the point across. Miyazaki is very talented, okay, but here we are at a level of elementary storytelling where only the purely visual aspect stands out: the script is objectively full of holes (although it does have some ecological, humorous, or poetic moments), and I don’t understand how one can define this film as his masterpiece... what about "Spirited Away," then? Anyway, everyone has their own opinion, of course. However, I would like to share an anecdote about the actual impact Miyazaki’s films have on audiences: every Sunday night on Rai Uno, there’s "Cinematografo," the only film program on Italian TV, which I’ve watched consistently for years; if you can tolerate Marzullo, it’s super entertaining and interesting, but if you can't, it’s just interesting. Every Sunday, they discuss the films released the previous Friday, and in the last episode, they talked about "Ponyo." All the critics fundamentally agreed it was fantastically enjoyable and exceptional if you get into the mood and appreciate this type of film; otherwise, you risk boredom or not being able to enjoy these films (essentially, Miyazaki’s work is much more niche and elitist compared to, for example, PIXAR). I completely agree with the critics. However, the worst part of the segment was the interviews with the people coming out of the cinema: there were two girls (one of whom was a gothic lolita - I swear - and one an otaku) and two young girls (including the voice actress of Ponyo and a real expert on Miyazaki), all of them extremely enthusiastic; however, the fact that the interviewing journalist found only this type of audience saddens me regarding the fact that Studio Ghibli films will succeed, yes, but only among a very specific audience that knows exactly what they are about to watch: the truly successful films are those attended by all demographics, even those who go just because of word of mouth. I hope that in future films, the director's fame can attract a wider audience to the cinema.

Review of Sophie Ellis-Bextor coming soon; in the meantime, here she is in an orgasmic ad (with her new single in the background): My ranking: 1) Sophie Ellis-Bextor 2) Kylie Minogue 3) Beyoncé 4) Mariah Carey 5) Julija from t.A.T.u. 6) Natalie Imbruglia 7) Jentina 8) Lola Ponce 9) Gwen Stefani 10) Mutya Buena... and let’s not forget Dannii Minogue, Mel B, Shaznay from All Saints, Ashanti, Aaliyah, Christina Milian, Amerie, Heidi from Sugababes, Nicole from Pussycat Dolls, and a thousand others. Honorable mentions also for Charlotte Gainsbourg and Cristina D'Avena, who are "types," but personally, they are not bad at all.

@ cptgaio: Sophie Ellis-Bextor is one of the most stunning women (in every sense) in the world, I love her outrageously, she's so beautiful that she doesn't exude sex: she emanates pure Beauty.

Natalie Imbruglia has her own place in international pop music: she is not vulgar, exhibitionist, or necessarily accompanied by a buff rapper, but rather in tune, clean, and also very, very charming. She presents her work with honesty and is part of that group of somewhat secondary singers (like Melanie C, t.A.T.u., and Sophie Ellis-Bextor) who may not have enormous international success, but have a very loyal fanbase. A very deserving CD of three full stars, review... I don’t know, I don’t like your style, no, I'm sorry.
